BBC1 across the hour rated about the same as usual, I'd say. 6.7m between 7-8pm last night, usually they'd have just under 5m for TOS and 9m for 'Enders so about the same overall. [Great rating for The One Show yesterday by the way]

So overall, despite losing both the 7pm and 7.30pm slots to BBC1 it was definitely a schedule change worth doing for ITV. Firstly it would've been a bit ridiculous anyway not showing the interview at 7pm as the embargo expired then but also their 7-8pm average was boosted and there was a significant boost for The Zoo too - 4m in that slot is practically unheard of.”

Ah OK, on first glance it appeared to be slightly down (hence "looks like", never claimed it to be fact), but on closer inspection it was actually slightly up so that's good at least for ITV. I still think The One Show did well to beat the ITV1 special by the amount that it did.

I also completely agree that ITV1 were right to show it at 7pm and have never said otherwise. Not sure they should have aired Emmerdale at 7:30pm though, but as they are already running an hour-long on Thursday and had football tonight I suppose their options were limited.

The Zoo did well in fairness. I won't go OTT, its rating still isn't brilliant, but it's a lot more respectable than ITV's usual performance in that slot.

Whilst I can't address your question with any certainty, I seem to remember it logging 1.7 in the overnights on occasions before where it has clashed with football of some kind.

The Family seems far more likely to have logged an all-time series low, but we won't point that out, eh?

After some googling, CSI: Miami did 1.7 opposite IAC last year as well, so it wasn't its lowest ever audience last night. It seems it is quite normal for it to dent it.

Has Holby got a new exec producer - it suddenly seems to have improved a lot. And Guy Henry is terrific as Henrik Hanssen.

BBC's schedules for week beginning 4th December now appear confirmed by BBC Press Office after DigiGuide updated yesterday.

ITV's schedules haven't been updated on DigiGuide yet - so it still looks like a mess - ITV Press Office doesn't really help a lot.

And ITV4 have secured the rights to daily highlights from the Ashes.

It is starting to get complicated - and I hope websites specifically state X and Y is included or not included (yes DS, I'm looking at you).

I'm guessing thread protocol will be to lump them in wherever possible to somewhat artificially inflate the figures as people do at the moment with Channel 4.

As long as people remember Channel 5 doesn't have one so the figures can't be fairly compared in that context, I couldn't give two hoots.

I agree with adding HD on, but I don't agree on adding +1 on, the only reason we do it is:

a) Channel 4 Sales reports it originally in that format
b) the original source reports it in that format

It seems 'easier' I guess to add them together, otherwise you'd have a long list of show name then underneath the +1 rating for about 10 shows, as could end up the case with ITV1 shows.

Yes, the coverage actually overran, it was supposed to finish at seven but carried on until 7.30. ITV covered it too, but they were hamstrung by the fact they had a World Cup match kicking off at 10am, so their morning coverage was moved to ITV2, which of course nobody watched. The Beeb had the benefit of being able to move their match, a 12.30 kick-off, to BBC2. ITV interspersed their afternoon coverage with a This Morning special (yes, in the afternoon).

On the Monday, ITV had the usual schedule until 10pm when they did an hour long news, but unfortunately for them the Party at the Palace overran so they spent most of that simply stood outside the Palace talking about what had happened, when if you turned to BBC1 you could have seen it for yourselves.

I'm getting a bit depressed about this chat about what happened in the last Jubilee, I was already feeling dead old as Blue Peter are running a competition to design the logo for the next one and spending loads of time explaining what a Jubilee is, when it feels to me about five minutes ago. Now we've got people here asking what the Party at the Palace was! I feel like I'm fifty.

Anyway, regardless of how ITV did in the Golden Jubilee, they did way better than the Silver Jubilee when they couldn't show anything because they were on strike. I'm too young to remember that one, though.

Channel 4 Sales report it in that format to make their programmes appear more popular to potential advertisers. No other reason. The clue is in the name of the website!

The media sites generally will keep them separate and say it got x for the original broadcast and y on +1, which suits me personally, but everyone's different.

It looks like DS are now adding the ITV1 and ITV1HD ratings together. So instead of reporting 'X show had 5m on ITV1 and 200k on ITV1HD' they just have the combined rating now.

Would this be a better solution for the soap schedules?

Monday
7.00 Emmerdale (1/6)
7.30 Coronation Street (1/5)
8.00 EastEnders (1/4)
8.30 Coronation Street (2/5)

Tuesday
7.00 Emmerdale (2/6)
7.30 EastEnders (2/4)
8.00 Coronation Street (2/5)

Wednesday
7.00 Emmerdale (3/6)
8.00 Holby City

Thursday
7.00 Emmerdale (4/6)
7.30 EastEnders (3/4)
8.00 Coronation Street (3/5)

Friday
7.00 Emmerdale (5,6/6 - 1 hour)
8.00 EastEnders (4/4)
8.30 Coronation Street (5/5)

Anyone know when ITV1 Wednesdays will be free of Football?

^ Why would the BBC move Holby City though?

I would advise against moving a longrunning popular pre-watershed drama out of its usual timeslot. ITV1 tried it recently and let's just say it didn't quite go to plan.

I've looked it up and ITV are stuck with the football until 2012. I'm sorry but there HAS to be a solution to the soap schedule woes at ITV, the 3 day gap for Coronation Street is really, really bad.

The best schedule would be Sun, Mon, Wed, Fri at 7.30pm, with an extra 8.30pm episode on Friday. That would be very balanced. But as people have said on here ITV don't want the show back on Sunday as it messes with their new demographic - but IMO that's only any use when The X Factor's on anyway. And obviously Wednesday is a no go now.

Dancing on Ice's audience I would think goes hand in hand with Corrie's.

As for Emmerdale, it should never have gone up to 6 episodes a week, it was perfect stripped across the week at 7pm.

It is confusing though, because I assume (sometimes) that's its higher because it's tape-checked.

So much for ITV1's "BIG EXCLUSIVE!" then (excited press HQ Tweet yesterday) - more people watched the ITV man do his thing on BBC1!

Perhaps other ITV shows might rate better on BBC1 too?

How was it a big exclusive ? It was a pool interview which had to be given to everyone. Obviously someone had to do the interview and it was Bradby because his wife is a friend of Kate Middleton. There was no exclusivity about it - did the ITV press office really claim it as an exclusive ?
