It might sound good, but that doesn't make it healthy.

I'm quite interested to hear them, what tracks does she go for the high notes on? If they're not high notes produced as a result of belting it's not the same.

“Alex herself has said that the song is extremely personal to her and that she got emotional recording it.”
But she didn't write it? And it couldn't be related to an event in her life because it was written for her. We all have the odd song that's personal to us, Pixie Lott - Cry Me Out is personal for me because of an event in my life.
And anyway, a strained belt isn't the result of feeling emotional, if you want an emotional attempt at singing go watch Mariah Carey's performance of I'll Be There at Michael Jacksons memorial.

“She has a natural raspy tone, like Toni Braxton and Bonnie Tyler, and that becomes more pronounced when she is emotional. Her performance of Un-Break My Heart on the x-factor is another example of this.”
Once again, I think it's the result of belting out of her range. Alex doesn't have a natural raspy tone, she has a naturally deep voice and if she sticks to the lower registers she sounds incredible, she can produce low notes in her chest voice with sheer power and that's what I like about her, but if she starts trying to pull out a bunch of notes she can't handle then it just becomes annoying.
