TalkTalk TV news

"TalkTalk have announced the rollout of a platform capable of
competing with Virgin Media and Sky for on-demand entertainment."

http://www.thinkbroadband.com/news/4...u-service.html

So it looks as though we Homechoice/Tiscali legatees are not going to be totally dumped and the future may be interesting, so say the least. I particularly note that the article says that any service must have superior PQ to Freeview to be successful.

Will this be in partnership and part of the Youview service?

Or in competition with it?

I was hoping one of you lot would tell me

But I would imagine they're going to use their new platform/joint venture in conjuction with YouView.

Ahhh!

I get it now.

Just done some reasearch into Alcatel-Lucent.

Yes, this is to do with Youview.

This company will provide the new BB network that will be rolled out to provide the Youview service.

You see, standard BB networks cannot provide a reliable VOD service. The network will be upgraded to guarantee this.

If it works like the BT model, this will be a private network just for Youview VOD only.

Means you'll get HD too!

Means you'll get top quality picture!

And it also means it'll be just like watching TV. Only with a DVD quality picture.

Top bannana!

Especially as Talktalk/AOL will have the chance to use BT wholesale fibre to the cabinet at competitive rates!
I have AOL and the local exchange will be upgraded next year so will be interesting to see what they offer?

They will need to upgrade customer service as well, I also have Sky TV where the customer service is very good.

When my AOL contract ends, if it's a choice between Sky, VM, BT or Talktalk/AOL bundle to get the best price with good features and good customer service, the latter 2 with Youview should be an interesting comparison with VM and Sky!!
Wonder if Orange (now with BT wholesale) and O2 will also be with Youview by then?
