Night night Jingle, love you Funny Face

I had to have my dear old Jingle PTS this evening.

She had been hyperthyroid for 3 years and had CRF for the last 18 months. She'd been on a drip 3 times, the last one only three weeks ago, so as she'd been going downhill and not eating for the last few days so soon after the last drip, I knew it was time to say goodbye.

I have to say, my vet and the veterinary staff have been fantastic throughout, so huge thanks to them.

It was all so peaceful in the end. They brought in a lovely fluffy blanket for her to rest on, and the injection administered. My little girl had her head in my hand right to the end, and as she lay there, she looked so peaceful and at rest.

I'm going to miss her so much, I used to talk to her constantly, and without her the house will seem empty and quiet. The volume of her howls (she was a very vocal madam!) could be heard down the street... Gawd only knows what the neighbours thought!

Night night Jingle, love you forever my funny face.

Thanks BBM, I still can't quite believe she's gone.

But I know it was the right thing to do, she was a very poorly little girl.

JoJo, I'm really sorry to see you had to say goodbye to Jingle. It's so hard to do, but we do it because we love them.

Thinking of you..

Thanks Shuttermaze, just off the phone from my mum where we had a good chuckle about the noise she used to make. She told me one day her and dad had come round to de-weed my front garden while I was at work, and she was howling at them from inside the house!

Jingle was indeed a noisy old thing, but she was the gentlest, most purry pussy cat I have ever known, and I feel blessed.

Oh my goodness, that's what happened to my Reno.

She had hyperthyroid and had stopped eating. She went downhill fast and was PTS a month ago last Friday. Her passing was very quiet and gentle.

I feel your pain.

She was indeed a 'right one'! And gorgeous. My little fluffy bonce (I think we need to start a thread for all the cat nicknames we have... Jingle had about a dozen!).

Thanks all for your thoughts, it is a real comfort.

Good night Jingle. I'll make sure My silver fox-cat Neo is waiting at the bridge to show Jingle the ropes. Couldntve been a happier cat from what I've read.
God bless

So sorry to hear about Jingle OP. It's heartbreaking when we have to let our loved ones go, but the consolation is we can end their suffering and give them peace.

Jingle will have known how much she was loved.

Thinking of you today,

RIP Jingle,

DC

Poor Jingle, I'm sorry for your loss.

I would like to reassure others with hyperthyroid cats that although some unfortunately will go downhill very quickly with kidney and heart problems, many can be treated and live perfectly normal lives. Our oldest cat (now 17) was diagnosed as hyperthyroid 18 months ago, underwent surgery, and made a full recovery. If surgery isn't an option, there are tablets available as well.

Thanks all.

Susie is right. Jingle was diagnosed with hyperthyroid ages ago, and then with CRF 18 months ago. She had a good life since then, with a couple of overnight trips to the vet on a drip, daily tablets and monthly vitamin B and steroid jabs, but obviously since the last drip was only 3 weeks ago, it wasn't an option to do that every few weeks.

Back to work for me today, very odd arriving home this evening with no one to greet me at the door demanding food and attention!
