orange out of contract - why cant i change this phone?
Hi - never been in phone forum before but I am so at the end of my tether with orange I thought i would ask for other's experiences.
I signed up for 18 mth contract with samsung pixon about 2 years ago - I hated the phone immediately but they refused to change it - after struggling with it for a while I gave up and reverted to an old one. That has now given up the ghost so I called orange to request an alternative to the pixon - I am out of contract now but still pay monthly, I dont want an upgrade as I dont want another year long contract or so - all I want is another handset that will actually make calls all they can offer is another bloody pixon - I begged for a lesser phone but was denied. I am the customer here - why cant I have a different phone without signing up again? Been with Orange 10 years, they treat you like you owe them but have been paying for maps, internet, insurance for the last 2 years having been unable to use any of it

Orange withdrew their 'cooldown' period for new customers, so that is why you were not allowed to change it.
With respect, you were able to use all the services you were given for the last 2 years but you chose not to. That is not Oranges fault. I'm sure if after you got the phone, if you went into the Orange Shop, staff would have been happy to help you with your new phone and show you how to work it. If they gave you a brand new different phone without entering you into a contract, theres nothing to say they could give it to you and then you bugger off and cancel the direct debit as you are not in a contract with them. I know its frustrating but IMO Orange are in the right at the moment

Out of contract and paying monthly sounds like a SIM only deal? Just go to Carphone Warehouse and take your pick of their PAYG range which are all unlocked.
Alternatively take out a new contract which includes a phone. Simples! |
