It's usually week three, which we've already had, so they must be scrapping it this year.

Is that because they wouldn't be able to play a really loud backing track over a live band, thus exposing the weaker contestans who are being hailed as the second coming?

I always hated big band week, however it was good to sort the shit singers out. And Cher will carry on in the show til the judges opinion counts no longer

It's always my favourite week.
My son went last year's big band week and Simon voted to save Jedward over Lucie Jones which was the moment the XFactor, changed from being a singing contest forever. Singing with a band is usually a brilliant week because the performers have to work differently in that they have to sing songs as they are written or adapted by the band. It sorts out the musically talented from the simply wannabe famous contestants. I would imagine that some of the judges favourites would not fair as well in Big Band week than some of the good singers who will find it a lot easier. Maybe this is the reason that Big Band Week has been dropped. |

Aw, I hope Big Band week isn't cancelled. I always look forward to it. Maybe we'll still get it later. We've still got more artists in the comp at this stage than we would normally have, so they are maybe just pushing it back in the schedule.

I'm another one who'll be gutted if they've got rid of it but who isn't actually surprised.

Up until now in this series of XFactor, all we've seen from a few of the contestants is how well they can perform to a VERY loud backing track - the actual singing seems to be completely secondary to the image |

They usually wait until they're down to 10 contestants, so Band Week could be on 6th Nov.
