I tried to cook a Jamie 30 minute meal....
I watched his show on Sunday and I was inspired by him.
I cooked the chicken pie with the lettuce and pea veg. It took me a lot longer than 30 minutes, but Im very inexperienced ![]() But my wife loved it and so did I. In fact I feel like I have a new hobbie ![]() Thanks jamie

Good for you! It's a great feeling seeing people enjoy food you have made isn't it?
Jamie's pie did look nice. I think I might try it myself at the weekend. |

Keep in mind Jamie has everything pre-prepared ready to go and to hand.. it's always going to take us a bit longer than it takes him but I like the principle of the show.

One tip I have taken from the show is having the food processor do all the work for you rather than endlessly chopping up onions or carrots.

Does anybody know if that's a studio kitchen or his own kitchen?

this is the only reason I want a processor. chooping onion and grating cheese are two tings I hate doing.

The chicken pie looked so good I made it tonight, complete with mashed carrots and peas and lettuce. It took me about 50 minutes including all the prep. but I wasn't in a hurry. Have to say it was absolutely delicious, and so easy doing it all on the stovetop, with your pastry just tucked in. Will use this method all the time now.

This sounds so tempting!
We have all the 30min programmes recorded but haven't watched any yet. Which episode is it? its sounds like a weekend dish. |

I made the steak sarnie, baby roast tatties and beetroot salad last night, took about an hour but it really was good

I haven't seen any of his 30 min recipes, but I like the prep side of things when cooking, so usually prefer stuff with a long prep time, and bugger the cooking time

I liked the look of his cheats banoffee pie, his mushroom risotto did not appeal though, neither did his cheats lemon cheesecake. I've noticed that he made some recipes that he's previously cooked on naked chef such as the steak sarnie and Portuguese custard tarts.

The concept is nothing new!! In the USA on the Food Network, there is a cook, Rachel Ray, and she does the same thing!! 30 Minute Meals!!! I think Jamie is trying to copy her!!
Oh well, as they say, imitation is the cheapest form of flattery!!! ![]() ![]()

Isn't it called 'semi home cooking' or something like that? I caught it when I was over in San Fran, she massively cheats though, she was making a cheesecake and got a ready made tub of cream cheese ready prepared for cheesecake.

Thanks in advance. |

awww godd for you, that's great. I always fancy trying these meals I see them cook on tv but never do.
I'm glad it turned out nice. It's nice to do something new for tea and when you've made it and someone else really likes it it makes you feel good. |

I've been watching this programme a lot. Everything looks so simple (even for me) so I've ordered the book. Can't wait to try it now.
The chicken pie did look lovely I agree. |

I made the Oozy Mushroom Risotto from this show last week. It was absolutely top notch. I did use veg stock though instead of water like Jamie did.
Here's the shows mini-site... http://www.jamieoliver.com/jamies-30-minutes-meals/ Pretty sure there are only selected recipes on the site. Obviously he wants folk to buy the book and not just print it off the website. |
