Only if the artist actually held themselves out as having some kind of musical integrity in the first place.

How McFly or Miss Spears can sell out is utterly beyond me. I mean that in the nicest possible way, they are very good at being pop stars but they were never supposed to be "all about the music" and as such its surely no big deal that they change their style, to sell more records. Lets face it, "Hit me baby one more time" and "its all about you" were not exactly exercised in pushing the envelope or raising the bar of musical creativity, they were about selling records.

The fact that people are shocked then that they change their style a bit to ...... sell records it odd to say the least.

David Guetta has definitely sold out and I also partly blame him for the commercialisation of current pop music rendering it soulless. It dissapoints me that the guy who has been under the radar making good dance music suddenly will make songs with anyone popular just to make some quick money and doesn't mind making awful songs to do so. Also, the fact that in any interview he does he always sucks up to Akon and Will.I.Am saying how brilliant and great they are. It's very embarrasing.

On the McFly matter. They have not sold out. Have you not heard the song they've done with Taio Cruz? It's more of an indie song than anything; completely different to the type of music Taio normally produces.

Dizzee Rascal sold out and kicked off this whole UK Poppy Rap scene with N-Dubz, Tinchy, Chipmunk etc.

I agree with you in terms of the 'artists' you mention.

Dizzee Rascal was awesome when he first appeared on the scene. I don't think he'll be winning any more mercury prizes in his current vein.
