VLC PLAYER for IPOD/PHONE finally released yay!!

the best player ever has finally released on ipod

im really happy i found this app just while ago it was only released yesterday.

and its played most off my
family guy,simpsons,inbetweeners avi files

they play smoothly and havent run into any problems yet!
i wouldt try mkv files i doubt they would work but im thrilled with the avi playback

since iv got my ipod iv always wished it played avi i couldt be ar$ed converting from mp4 and blah blah.

Thanks for spotting this.

At the risk of being durrr is it simple to get files over, no jailbreak etc

yeah i have it on my ipad and you do go thru itunes but its easy to do and dont need to convert
it doesnt like some files tho, i found so far it doesnt like downloaded blu ray rips

It doesn't install on older iDevices. 3GS/3rd Gen Touch and up only.

Does this work Itouch 3rd gen? Some if the reviews say not to get it for tre touch!

In Itunes just click the device, click Apps. Scroll Down, find the VLC App and drag the files onto it.

Only have a 2nd gen Touch though so still seems like a no go for me, pity

It will work on the 32GB and 64GB models of the iTouch 3g, but not the 8GB model as it was just a rebranded iTouch 2g internally.

Do video transcoding on your computer at home. As nice as VLC playing it as is on the device might be, it is going to use your battery up much quicker than video which has already been transcoded into a codec which the iDevice has dedicated hardware acceleration for playing.
