Expected release in the US for $249 next month (19th Nov).

Colour e-book reader that is wifi only with a 7 inch touch screen display that will have apps. Looks like my procrastination in buying the Amazon Kindle might have been a wise move afterall

It won't be a patch on a Kindle or Sony Reader for the primary purpose - reading books.

E-ink is just way better for extended periods of reading, and in the case of the Sony PRS-350, its barely larger than a paperback so is quite comfortable to be used in bed with one hand.

The Colour nook is an interesting device though, but ultimately its just another Android tablet.

Looks like a cheap iPad. The whole point of e-readers is the 'printed' display.

The LCD display ruins it for me.The only thing it would be useful for is magazines and comics. An e-ink display is needed for pro-longed stretches of reading for me.

I've been incredibly surprised at how good the latest e-ink display look - recently picked up a Sony PRS-350, and the display is easily as good as a regular paperback book. 5" screen, 600x800 pixels, and battery life ..... I can forsee an easy two weeks on a charge. An LCD based device won't even begin to match the battery life of an e-ink display.

Let me frown upon it, too It's not best at what it is marketed as. Using the same logic, you could call iPad an e-Reader, too. You can use it as one, but there are other things it is designed to do better. E-ink is a must for me when I want e-reader. If you really want a gadget for reading books and want the best you can get, get one with an e-Ink, be it Sony, Kindle, or anything else. Kindle 3's screen is amazing. And so is new Sony's I am told.

Both the K3 and the new Sonys use the same screen technology (Pearl?), and really are stunningly clear.

A colour screen will be useful for comics and glossy magazines, so there is a market, but its definitely not a traditional eReader.

Kindle will be be a much better e-book reader and the iPad is a much better tablet. It doest have e-ink for starters. Also I doubt it would have anything on iOS or the app store on the iPad. Save your money and get an iPad or if reading is more important to you get a Kindle or both
