The sheer size of this tour got me thinking, what acts alive today could do a tour with that many dates. I can't think of any off the top of my head, just shows how popular they are.

Remember, the majority of TT's stadium dates are UK. Bands like Coldplay, U2, Metallica, Iron Maiden etc. are playing stadiums all over the world.

Both Rolling Stones and Chilli Peppers failed to sell out stadiums last time they toured.

I can see Gaga playing stadiums next Summer tbh with Scissor Sisters supporting. Beyonce and Girls Aloud (if they ever get back together) could also play stadiums but I don't think to the same extent Take That are doing.

Yeah, but they could still fill all those UK stadiums

Haha yes, that's what I was meaning. I was meaning that those other bands are playing many more gigs, in normally, much bigger venues.

^^^^^THIS!

always selling out stadiums globally! the only down side is she's not always in the UK but didn't she perform 85 stadiums globally anyway with her Sticky & Sweet Tour, which was HUGE!!!

i think her next tour with Live Nation she'll really go HUGE global too!

The biggest live band at the moment is U2. Their 360 Tour has just finished a 22 date stint in Europe & then they'll head off to Oz & New Zealand next month where they'll play 10 dates up to December 19th.Then they head to South Africa on Feb 13th for two gigs.On May 14/15th they'll play two days in Mexico before resuming their North American tour where they'll play 19 concerts up until July 26th.They'll probably squeeze in Glastonbury in June and they may announce dates in Ireland to finally end the tour.I'm sure they've also mentioned that they want to play in Brazil & Argentina, too

Plenty -

U2
Madonna
Led Zeppelin
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Coldplay
Metallica
Stevie Wonder

and these acts are able to do it on a worldwide scale, unlike Take That.

U2 comes to mind immediately and they are touring stadiums world wide. I don't think there is a bigger touring act than U2 out there.

Metallica have been touring since the end of 2008. Iron Maiden's "Somewhere Back in Time" tour took them all over the world - even to countries like India and Colombia. Most of the tour dates sold out, and the band and their entire road crew (equipment included) travelled in their own aircraft piloted by singer Bruce Dickinson. The whole thing was documented in Flight 666.

In fact just look at the tour lists for both bands (Metallica's especially). They put TT's to shame:

This.

Also AC/DC were the highest grossing tour earners of last year.
