Mary Byrne song choice SPOILER
They're going with Could It Be Magic - Take That / Barry Manilow.
Back up song is That Ole Devil Called Love - Alison Moyet. By the way,if you have any suggestions for future song choices for Mary, email them to this address and they will forward them all on to Louis on your behalf ![]() song4mary@thestar.ie |

I would love her to do her back up song as the first one so predictable.

Really modern and edgy stuff then!
Could it be Magic is terrible, doesn't need any range at all. Would have thought Wand Erection would be better off with it as it wouldn't stretch their dubious vocal abilities. Whose vocal inadequacies will be covered by a big production number on 'Thriller' I wonder? |

The back-up song sounds a better choice to me.

Neither of them are exactly modern tracks to show her versatility though....
Hardly a huge step away from her comfort zone |

Imagine Wagner tackling that
![]() ![]() I would rather like to see Aiden take on Thriller. Don't know why. But I would. As for Mary's song choice if correct. Meh. |

Louis walsh has had his day now, hes too old and not with it anymore.
he has a screw loose and if not fit to choose songs for contestants. he is just ruining them all. |

First choice will be something new for her, back up would suit her better.
As for comments about versatility.....Why do the contestants have to shine in various genres? Do Metallica release disco tracks? Do Westlife rap? Each to their own. The contestants should be allowed to be what they want to be. |

If that's true then that's quite dire.

Joe McElderry topped the poll in week 8 last year by a big margin with the same song : there may be a method to Louis's madness.

The contestants should be allowed to be what they want to be. Plus, there have been some amazing performances in the past when contestants have been forced to step outside their typical genres - I remember Lucie's rendition of Sweet Child Of Mine last year really worked in unexpected ways. (also, with regard to Mary specifically, it is actually like she's doing the exact same live performance every week - I'm not sure that I could even differentiate her performances from one another - and I think that will cost her votes.) |

Hardly a huge step away from her comfort zone She needs to sing something fast and upbeat to be versatile but it could be an old song like Jailhouse rock by elvis |
