Should Wagner Sing In His Native Language?
I think one of the problems Wagner has at the moment is that he isn't used to singing in English, and thus his accent is a bit odd on some words etc (not in a racist way, just an observation).
does anyone think it would be a good idea for him to perform in his native language (brazillian?), so he could show off his full vocal range and talent. Just at the moment he's like a pantomime clown and I think he does actually have a pretty good voice. |

I think the official language of Brazil is Portuguese. (which is too bad; if it were Spanish, he could have a crack at the Macarena or the Ketchup Song in their original languages.)

To be pedantic, they speak Brazilian Portuguese, which is slightly different to Portuguese. They can understand each other but pronunciation is quite different.

Allowing him to sing in his native language would certainly be an improvement
However all this talk of him singing opera is laughable. He hasn't got the technique or basic voice to sing opera anything like properly. His audition attempt was very poor and to return to this would show up his lack of vocal quality even further. He can only succeed as a novelty act. An embarrassing one - but there we go |

If Louis wanted Wagner to be eliminated, he'd give him something operatic. I don't believe he has a particularly strong voice when singing opera or cheesy pop, but at least the latter will score him comedy votes.

They do. But even singing in Portuguese wouldn't make him sound any better

I'm seeing Wagner, in a lounge suit
, dancers looking classy (for once ) and not touching themselves. The stage dressed to resemble a smokey nightclub. It's Bossa Nova time. He sings Desafinado: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=So718...eature=related Which roughly translated means " Off Key" apparently. Do it Louie just do.

Ahh yes The Girl From Ipanema would be better because it's well know. Good call. I'm seeing Rio.Wagner is dressed still in a lounge suit, holding a drink, a cocktail in a long glass....(Wagner in speedos maybe too much for a Saturday night audience or indeed my eyes ). The stage is dressed to resemble a beach...the beach in Ipanema. The female dancers are wearing bikinis, but with sarongs.... we're going for a classy look. The male dancers are wearing speedo![]() Do it Louie.

Nah, that would be a disaster. He would lose his appeal. It didn't work with Ruth Lorenzo and it won't with him. Disaster waiting to happen. Mark my words.

I would wager a considerable sum on him singing "Copacabana" soon - not that that's in Portuguese, but we know how Louis' mind works...
![]() Seriously, anything by Jobim would be very interesting. |

I've wondered about that. I thought actually it would have worked quite well if he'd done a Portugese translation of Help Yourself the other week.
