Cheryl Cole’s new single Promise This is set to record one of the biggest first week sales of any single this year.

Promise This has already sold 100,000 copies so far this week, according to today’s Official Singles Update, with half of the week still to run – leaving Cole on course to score the fastest selling non-charity single of the year so far.

She released two without the show in the last era, and they both sold over 300k...

And the album hasn't left the charts since it was released last year, it's been selling pretty constantly for 53 weeks now (at #24 in the midweeks today)

She's only sold 100,000 copies

Barbie Girl racked up sales of 1.7 million in the UK;
The Teletubbies sold 1.3 million and Bob the Builder over a million singles

Cheryl needs to up her game

i acc really like her new album, but i never think of her as a proper artist/musican for some reason and i think it's because i always associate with x factor now therefore not thinking of her as an artist, also not being funny but she kinda relies on the x factor to be successful

Were those first week sales for the Teletubbies and Barbie Girl though?

So, is this her biggest selling single so far - as far as first week sales go, I mean?

Definitely not- FFTL sold around 258k first week.

It is quite possible that she will drop out of the top 5 in week 2 though.I still think she is down to her hardcore fans now - that is easily enough to get a number 1 for 1 week at least.Vickers got a No.1 but dropped like a stone.Don't think it will drop as sharply as that but can't see this single hanging around that long in the top 20, especially with high first week sales.

Not to mention the Crazy Frog song.

When Cheryl can make annoying car noises for three and a half minutes, that's when I'll admit she's got talent.

So, they must be thinking that Promise This will top FFTL's sales then. Otherwise, why hype it up that PT is on course to be one of the biggest

I read the title and thought of Mr Creosote and his wafer thin mint.

Sadly the reality of the story was not so interesting or amusing.

the biggest this year. Rihanna will probably get the number 1 spot next week after she performs on the X Factor.

Ah yes, senior moment

I forgot FFTL was released last year. I guess it seems like it's been on the music channels a lot this year still.

I'm not a fan of Cheryl's music, but I'm always interested to see how well artists are selling. I guess she could be our equivalent to Taylor Swift, who seems to sell by the bucketload, and comes in for an equal amount of panning by non-fans in the U.S.
