It's sold around 100,000 already and is most likely going to become the best selling first week single of this year so far.

I'm hoping Rihanna will be No.1 next week because she'll be performing on X Factor.

Yeah, I think (and hope) Rihanna gets #1 next week.

I like both songs, but I prefer Rihanna's.

Also, Cheryl won't get the highest 1st week sales for a #1, because Everybody Hurts sold like 400,000 in its first week, I think.

However, this week, Rihanna might get the highest sales to chart at #2 this year. The record is currently held by Riverside, where it sold over 90,000, and only charted at #2 (behind Replay I think).

I should have said excluding charity singles.

To be fair, there's hundreds of very talented acts out there who don't get noticed in the charts at all. The charts are never about talent (not that I am agreeing Rihanna has talent, I think she is very shit! )

This result was obvious, though. As soon as she performed on the X-Factor her single started climbing and was number 1 within less than a day

I would perfer Rihanna to get to #1. Only Girl is fantastic and she has too often been pipped to #1 (SOS, Unfaithful, Russian Roulette, Rude Boy... )

However i can't really complain because I bought both Rihanna and Cheryl

what was anyone expecting, ofcourse the british sheep have flocked to buy cheryls single. its OK, but worth 100,000 sales in 1 week??!! i dont think so!! maybe if rihanna had of performed on x factor on the same night, she might have got the number 1.
does anyone know if its been confirmed rihanna will be performing on x factor?

cannot wait for Rihanna's performance of Only Girl, it's such an anthem! love the beat and the lyrics are very honest too, she always has an ear for a hook!

but haven't purchased either song...i always buy albums!

but the sales rate is very impressive!

As much as I can't stand Cheryls previous efforts I have to admit I do like Promise This but I still don't think she deserves a number one. Bought Rihanna - Only Girl (in the World) = Awesome Tune!!! The chorous is infectious. She deserves the top spot!

Yeah i suppose i keep forgetting about that. I'm not too bothered because if people like the song, fair it gets to number one but i wish it was about talent sometimes and people get awards they deserve. But the charts is so teenage dominanted its not based on how good the song is or talented the artist is but if people like the song or not :/

It was already at #1 by mid/late Sunday afternoon, IIRC.

Prefer Rihanna's track, far better than Russian Roulette. But it'll be #1 next week.

It looks like 'Mission: Flood The TV, Radio And Every Other Media Outlet With Nothing But Tweedy Over The Whole Week' was a success then

Go Cheryl! She deserves no.1; Promise This is a good song. Rihanna cannot sing live and I doubt she'll be able to reach all the high notes on her X Factor performance. Anyone who saw her 'Russian Roulette' performance last year wil know she was pretty dire.
