I can only get 3G signal from Vodafone but I don't see anything on data on pay as you go,

I have also a Giff Gaff sim which I haven't looked at yet. Any recommendations?

Giffgaff if you want unlimited data for £10, don't know how long the unlimited will last though, but at the moment it's unbeatable. 3G coverage isn't as good as some other networks, but if the coverage it good for you then it's win win.

Vodafone has a £5 add on that gives 250mb of data valid for a month.
Three have best 3g coverage though followed by Orange.

giffgaff gives you 100mb per day data absolutely free until december.

after that - youd need to buy the £10 package with gives unlimited data (totally unlimited - no caps) .. also includes unlt'd texts, and 150 x-net minutes.

all depends on the network coverage O2 has in your area though!

watch out - they'll all start accusing you of trying to spread some type of "pyramid scheme" if you recommend giffgaff on here!

Compare that to 3:

£10 gets you 3000 texts not 300 like VF and 500MB web access and 100 minutes.

Until end december, you get free data on giffgaff of 100MB/day. I don't think there is even any minimum spend requirement beyond the first topup.

So you can try it out without spending anything. Asda is pretty cheap for pay as you go with regards to voice and text on Vodafone network.

Tesco (runs on O2) have a good deal of £10/month for 500 mins, unltd texts and data (500MB or 1GB, not sure which).

Someone said something about O2 and Vodafone sharing cell sites so maybe O2 will get coverage in your area?

There will certainly be some who will warn against going with O2 or any of its MVNOs.

Last for 3G coverage, last for 3G speeds, last for data reliability. Exactly what you want when you want to use data.

I agree with Moox if it's mainly data you are after O2 and it's various MVNOs should be the last choice.

I agree with previous two posts. If you need data most, then preferably avoid O2 or its MVNO's(giffgaff, tesco etc)

A data network would be best like 3 if you can get signal.

Asda Mobile is the best
How are they the best?
They charge 20p per mb, which is great for low users, but bad for anyone else.

Is it unlimited or 1GB? You can't have it both ways. giffgaff have no caps on there £10 and over packages.

It's nowhere near as good as GiffGaff if you just want fully unlimited data, but as I keep saying O2 have got a habit of doing things like this when they are trying to build up customers and then taking them away when they have them.

An example is the rolling 30 day sim free contracts that had a fixed data amount, then 6 months down the line they reduced it by 1/2 but still expected customers on the contracts to pay the same. O2 stated it was 'an introductory offer' although at no point was that marketed or even in the small print. Customers were told to like it or lump it as they could leave at any time, not that it's comforting when you've made the effort of getting a pac code and switching suppliers meaning you have to now get a new sim, sign up with somebody else, get the pac code again, re-set up direct debits etc if you want to switch (and O2 know that).

They have started Giffgaff as a new operation and what they will do is be very generous to buy in the customers, however these deals CANNOT last. They simply cannot give unlimited data indefinitely as they are seeing data demand double every 2 years, they are already reducing and cancelling unlimited O2 data plans and have been since last summer.

I will quote this post back in a thread in 3-6 months when Giffgaff cancel the totally unlimited data goodybag as everybody knows it's not going to last long. It's simply a ploy to tempt people to switch to them and 6 months down the line they will withdraw it.

OK...So what's your point? Reality is, at the moment, it's the best out there for data....In six months you may or may not be right. But, in six months all the others will have changed to something else.....The thread is about now though not the future.
As you point out if things don't go the way you want, you can always change. I don't find it as difficult to change supplier if I'm not satisfied as you make it out. I believe new rules are coming in soon to make it even quicker.
