Anyone upgraded to WP7 on Orange?

My upgrade date is next week and it'd be just spiffy if any of you could update me on what you managed to wangle from Orange as part of your upgrade.

I'll answer that with yes and no!!!

I was offered 600mins, unlimited texts and unlimited internet, free Mozart on a 24 month contract for £22.50 per month. I chose the Omnia, for which they charged £50, for the same monthly fee.

I thought this was great, until I checked my account online, I'd been put on Dolphin 25, with an extra 300 minutes as a loyalty bonus. My problem with this was the Dolphin tarrif comes with a 500MB data limit (I use 250MB per month now, and a cloud enabled phone is going to use quite a bit more). I was not happy, and gave them a call back (phone was due the next day by this point). After a bit of hastle they agreed that my data was not unlimited (ie I would be charged if I went over 500MB) even though there systems said it was unlimited. Long and short of it is they couldn't change what had been agreed while I had the phone (which I didn't actually have) so I've had to cancel the contract (due to miss-selling) refuse delivery of the phone and wait for the phone to arrive back at their warehouse before I can start again on the upgrade negotiations. Hopefully this should be tomorrow, and I'l let you know what I get.

Probably not the rant you wanted, but the offers seem quite good, just be careful you get what you are being sold

Oh thats a good deal. Im on pretty much that but with 300 minutes a month. I was tempted to just go for the Mozart as I hear they offer them free on upgrades however I really do want the Omnia. Let me know how upgrade round 2 goes!

Don't do 2 years! Get a shorter contract if you can.

I personally dont mind going onto 24 months - I figure if I can get a good enough deal, im happy since I can change my handset at anytime if I wish just by buying a new one etc. A cheap deal goes a long way

ok, round 2 completed.

Apparently orange have updated their data limits on contracts today, so there is no such thing as unlimited internet, and it was even suggested that the FUP has been removed and there are now limits of 500MB, 750MB, and 1GB.

So for £27.50 on a 24 month contract I get a free Omina 7, 600 minutes, unlimited texts, 750MB internet, 50 picture messages, unlimited email, and SatNav (not that it's compatible with the Omnia at this time). So in terms of TCO, it's £10 extra (42p per month), and I get an extra 250MB per month, 50 picture messages per month and SatNav more than my original deal. Bargin

All I have to do now is wait for their new stock to get into the system (upto 48 hours) and sit and wait with a big grin on my face

Thats a pretty good deal I guess! Im hoping I can get 750mb/1gb with around 300 mins and unlimited texts, thats all I need tbh. Im happy to pay for the phone though id hope not to pay more than the £50 you were quoted. Saying that, I have my blackberry to sell so im pretty flexible. Did they say when youll be receiving the handset, or is that what you meant by 48 hours?

That was the cheapest they would do for 750MB, for 1GB they wanted me to sign to to a £40 tarrif, and quite frankly I don't need 1200 minutes a month. If you do exceed the cap the max you will be charged is 60p per day. I only need 300 minutes, but they threw minutes at me, it seems talk is cheap, data isn't.

They said that they should have stock in 48 hours, and at that point they would text me to let me select my deliver options, but I could have next working day if that's what I wanted (which strangley it is)

Ahhh, fair enough! Well the upgrade price if I want to stay on my current tariff is £149, so im hoping theyre a bit more flexible if I change to a 24 month contract. I dont mind paying more for the handset if I get the right deal. I guess ill have to wait until Friday to find out. Will update with some more info in due course!

So I got offered the phone for free on £25pm on a new 24 month contract with the same minutes, txts and 500mb of data whch I didnt have before (ive been on a free blackberry tariff) OR I could have same minutes (300), 500mb data, unlimited txts and the phone for £44.99 on the same 18 month contract so I went for that. I was intending on cancelling to go to T Mobile (25pm, 300mins,unlmtd data and txts via buymobilephones) but would have had to pay a cancellation fee so all in all im happy with the deal.

Delivered on Monday...exciteddddd!

I'm glad you got the deal you wanted. I have to say, 30 hrs in I'm very impressed by the phone. It takes a little getting used to, esp the auto correct, but it seems to be getting easier and better all the time. I'm typing this now on the phone. It really is a great piece of kit. Enjoy
