Depends on your definition of success. Studio Five is utterly dire.

I think Liz is a good contender, brains and beauty

Also Joanna, she has good potential as well

True but I suspect she is doing slightly better than Jasmina in the long run

Joanna hasn't got a chance in hell.

Then that's 14 months of utter direness.

FWIW, I do think Liz has a good shot at winning.

Agree with both sentences. The only thing I'd point out is that Liz while very competant and sensible, doesn't seem very exciting. It's too early to tell yet of course. When you get down to four on a team everyone gets more screentime and more to do.

Yes, so far she seems a bit vanilla, but she's been lacking screentime so we'll see. Also, anyone vaguely normal on this can come across quite boring even if they're anything but. I'd like to work with Liz.

Competent and sensible, but not very exciting, could almost be a description of Tim Campbell. Sugar likes exactly that sort; he rarely picks the flashy characters.

Was that what you were talking about?

Apart from doing well, Sugar looks for those who are determined to get the job and make maximum effort. Tim might not have shouted, but then why take on Saira and Paul in the decible stakes? He was quietly determined and calmly made good points. Sugar does pay attention to people when they do that.

Competant is not enough. Liz needs to show she really wants it. Kate didn't with the same level of conviction of Yasmina or Debra.

I can see why Kate likes Liz, as I find them quite similar. They seem like pleasant people, and are certainly attractive, but they lack a certain raw passion for business that Lord Sugar really likes. He doesn't like people who are more style over substance and that's the impression that Kate and Liz give off for me.
Liz will probably be runner-up just like Kate.

Though hopefully she will not end up choosing a career in presenting on channel 5 like Kate did if she is a runner up - or God forbid, on Kate's show...

Not that I'd be to surprised if she did - most of them get sucked into the media career path at some point.

So far Liz seems very good. But, we'll have to see how she does as PM.

Agreed. Being PM reveals the real quality of contestants. It was when Kate Walsh was PM I realised how good she really was.

They may both be too smart for Sugar. He prefers people who sell something cheap and nasty to make a big profit or people with stories like his own or people who fitted the particular job in mind.

I don't see any great merit in staying in business if a better offer of a more interesting and possibly better paid job job comes around. Working on TV interviewing A listers and being sent out to do interesting things looks an infinitely more interesting job than any of the winners have ever been given.

Liz's pitch was great, I was kind of taking notes. She was informed about her product, informal ("you guys") without being over familiar or ingratiating ... she didn't go on and on.

She looks professional and her body language is good, also doesn't appear to be overly egotistical.

So, I think she'd be a worthy finalist. A bit low on entertainment value, but that's the job of the losers. The winner should be deserving and likeable.

And Lee was not that bright,...........but just about bright enough to sell what he had to to the sort of people he would have to.

I don't believe the drive or determination to get the job argument. People who display drive often can't perform but can pretend. I wouldn't trust his Lordship on what we have seen to make that call - his biases are too apparent. Verbiage or life story is often more effective than it should be - more so since Apprentice candidates have learnt Sugar 101. Determination to get the job can equally reflect lack of options, delusion, desperation or an attempt to stroke the Sugar ego. Honest people with other options are naturally going not to sound so desperate, but they may be an awful lot more effective.

Shame she's languishing on that awful, credibility-wrecking TV show.

No, that's fine but the show she presents is truly execrable, and doesn't attract A-Listers. And they cover incredibly inane items on the show. It won't advance her career when it ends, which it will. She won't get on Newsnight on the back of it.

She has been sent to interview many A-Listers on it.
