"X Factor judging was "ridiculous" last weekend."
Steve Brookstein claimed the X Factor judging was "ridiculous" last weekend.
I agree with what he said about Katie and Cher!!! The series one winner said that the departure of John Adeleye last weekend was upsetting as he was one of the best singers, but argued that it was "no surprise" following his treatment from the judges and Louis Walsh's "duffer" of a song choice with 'Zoom'. "John had good reason to be upset," Brookstein wrote in his London 24 blog. "Simon [Cowell] had put the boot in by avoiding the vocal ability and just went for a cheap laugh. The poor song and distracting dancers weren't his fault. "Other singers were given an abundance of superlatives to describe their mediocre performances despite not singing as well as John. The judges criticised everything about his performance except his voice, the one thing that really matters." The 41-year-old also blasted several of the finalists performances, questioning the standards of Katie Waissel, Cher Lloyd, Belle Amie and One Direction. "Katie Waissel was last on and performed (yet again) just after the crazy card Wagner to make her look good," he said. "She was given huge praise from all the judges including Louis who has made an about face turn from the initial 'style over substance' comments. I can't tell you how ridiculous this judging is. "I've nothing new to say on Cher. She sang poorly and rapped. Next week will be the same again... [And] Belle Amie and One Direction are basically Girls Aloud and Westlife." |

No, they're the new Girls Aloud and Sugababes.

Gotta say, I find myself agreeing with him on all of these points. Especially the part about Katie. Why is she being let off so easily when you've got Simon and Cheryl making ridiculous criticisms regarding undeserving contestants such as John and Aiden.
Gosh. I never thought I'd agree with Steve Brookstein! |

But he's not a fool and he's absolutely right in what he says about the current X Factor judging! |

He's right in some ways...
Still, talking of vocals... didn't Steve win over G4? ![]() |

totally correct. The comments were lies and predetermined. Weasel was rubbish and they hailed her a genius, lol.

Steve may at times have been a little bitter, but he is right most of the time when assessing the show.

Zoom = Buttercup that sealed the fate of that poor lad (can't remeber his name
year before last). Although he still sang it well.I loved John - he had a great voice and could sing anything, never a note out of place. Seemed, as far as we can ever tell, to be a really nice guy too. I was really sad to see him go - all the best to him. |

I agree wholeheartedly with Steve on this. Simon especially, gave some laughable ott comments on performances that were at best mediochre. This show is now so hyped up!

One Direction and Belle Amie are not a patch on Westlife and Girls Aloud - the latter two acts can sing (apart from Cheryl of course).

Cowell said Katie's performance was "genius". Perhaps the single most absurd thing ever uttered on TV.

If he thought that was "genius", presumably Cowell would mistake your average primary school play (about the standard Katie showed) for a gathering of Nobel prize winners.
