Only 10 days of use and have an issue with the box being completely jammed.

Recorded a program and left set in standby. When I returned and switch TV back on it booted up but I am unable to operate any functions with the remote. Have changed the batteries, I know the remote is OK but the box is not responding. There are no manual functions on the box other than the on/off switch.

Any one else experienced this problem please.

Switch it off using the main power switch at the back of the stb - leave a few seconds, then switch back on and reboot

Its not as stupid as it sounds, many people have done this and all theyve done is switch away from the PVR.

I tried this, as it was a familiar prob with my sky box and it used to do the trick. Unfortunately not this time. but thanks.

Flyer10 and CannonMan

Thank you, thank you. Your suggestion sorted it out.

Totally new to this system and after 20 years of SKy I am on a new learning curve.

Cheers!

There are no manual functions on the box other than the on/off switch.
There are several manual buttons behind the front flap including TV/Radio, Menu, Guide, OK, Back and Channel cursor buttons so even if the dog chews up the remote or you are out of batteries you can still operate the basic functions - see manual page 9.
Oh and since you didn't seem to know about these buttons have you removed the extra plastic protective film from the front panel behind the flap - this can negatively influence the reception of the remote.

After 18 months of near perfect service I have also had this problem a couple of times in the last few weeks. The power switch on the front panel does not seem to work under these circumstances so it is down to a mains power off / on which works OK (though any programmes recording at time go to a 'failed' recording state).

I should also say that this is not the PVR button problem mentioned - tried that first....

What I had noticed shortly before the box hung was the response to remote keys was getting rather slow (could wait up to 5 seconds for a response to happen).

I hope this is not an indication of a impending box problem...

Also had this same problem a couple of times in the past few days. Never happened before the recent BBC1 HD update scan, coincidence or not?

I have been having this problem as well ,the remote commands seem to take up to 5 seconds before operating the box .
I think this is an mheg5 problem as it does not happen in non freesat mode.

Had it once or twice about a year ago. Each time switching off and on at the back of the box cured it.

First time it happened coincided with a non-terminating recording.

Second time was soon after the last major software update.

My box is switched off every night and still makes no difference when using the remote,so in my case it's not a glitch, it's a bug that's for sure , unless I am the only one having this trouble, and I doubt that.
It does not happen when in non-freesat mode.
So there is a big hint to the bug fixers,
