No. The forum isn't about chat threads, it's about discussion threads. Until the spoiler comes in, you have no spoiler to discuss, unless you're checking who is getting the spoiler. There's a reason why general DISCUSSION contains a sub-forum called "chatter", for stuff that doesn't deserve to be called discussion. IMO this thread should be there, or in a SCD chatter subforum. It's nonsense.

And it's really not that easy to figure out who's gone sometimes. Sorting through the gibberish is difficult.

The chat is more so about the show on the thread. And as I just posted above no one is obliged to post a spoiler and if they choose to do it here then people who want to see it just have to find it IMO

The tone of your post is rather rude ( i'm sure you don't intend it to be ) For me the difference between chatter and discussion is at best semantic and subjective. Is not the chatter forum for "off topic" discussion. Discussion about a possible SCD spoiler etc would seem to be very much on topic. If you want to know the spoiler without the preamble it seems simple enough to do as others have suggested and start at the end of the thread ( if that is what you want ).
Those who are kind enough to post spoilers should be able to post how and where they like on the forum as long as they respect others wishes not to know and should be kindly thanked for doing so. Cheers

I posted one of the spoilers, courtesy of Alisonrose. I only posted it in the spoiler thread because that is what has traditionally happened, not because I think there is any particular merit in having twenty pages of panda discussion before we get to the spoiler.

I wonder if the mods would agree to a stickied thread which just had the spoiler in and nothing else. Then we could have a chat thread and an easily accessibly spoiler as well.

May I also take a moment to appreciate an irony that those of us complaining about the spoiler thread having too much OT chat in it, are actually posting OT comments in the spoiler thread in order to have this discussion?

I LOVE the spoiler thread. And yes - in the past I've come in from a night out, started at the end and worked backwards until I figure out who's gone.

What cracks me up is the conversation I have with my mum over the phone with my mum on the Sunday.
Mum: Do you know who went
Me: Yes - do you want to know?
Mum: No - don't tell me
Me: Well don't ask then
Mum: OK well tell me...
Me: [bangs head on table in despair]

It's become part of my Strictly routine...

Well said Ignazio. Call me sad but its my highlight of the week!!! Well there's probably better things but it does help to pass the time whilst you are waiting. I am sure if Alisonrose or any other mole preferred to post on a separate thread, then they would make one.

Most of us manage quite easily - and what you term gibberish is banter to others.

If the mods thought the chitchat prior to the result inappropriate I'm sure they would take the necessary action - and I think it's rather presumptuous of you to attempt to dictate what is or is not acceptable.
