What if Wagner, Cher, Katie etc won the show, we have been hearing in recent weeks.
However when you look back over the winners it has generally been a lot of safe-ballad singers who have won the show and despite whatever the X-Factor is, it has generally been people pretty devoid of personality. Therefore its logical than Matt, Rebecca, Mary etc are popular and have a good shout at winning |

A final that would shock me would be Treyc, Paije and Aiden. A final I don't think could ever happen, but would love it if it did take place.

The format of the show generally leads to a karaoke singer winning, due to the theme weeks. To get through each week you've got to be able to do a reasonable impersonation of whoever's song you're singing (hence karaoke), if you're too "unique" you struggle doing diverse stuff and depending on theme can have a bad week at some point, and it only takes one bad week to land you in the bottom 2 and get tactically voted out (Lucie last year).
Imagine some of this year's acts doing "big band" week. Cher and 1 Dimension would struggle big time as it'd expose their weak vocals, but it looks to me like the themes this year are being deliberately vague enough to allow each act to stick to what they do best week in week out, which I actually think is a good thing as we get a feel for what kind of artist they really are. So this year it might be different, historically you had to be "jack of all trades master of none" to succeed in XF but for once we might actually get a winner who doesn't fit the usual XF mold. |
