N8 IMAP Push email doesn't work.

A heads up for anyone in the market:

From my own experience and according to the nokia forums push email is not working with IMAP.

That includes the automated GMail setup.

when retrieval is set to 'soonest' it only retrieves when you open the app or force it manually.

the only workaround is to set it to 15 minutes.

Actually just checked mine and looks like I must have been set to 15 mins (sorry though it was soonest). Must have been just been lucky to see the arrival at each 15 min interval

well you're the only person who has said that and i have read 100s of posts regarding it not working and it doesn't work for me. Although i don't use gmail.

the seems to be a failure with nokias implementation of IMAP idle.

i guess you are lucky.

Is Mail for Exchange available for this phone?

Perhaps I'm a bit out of date, but I use that for push Gmail, and it seems to work brilliantly.
