Skyfire goes begging?
Is this pleading from the Skyfire Iphone preview blog?
"Adherence to Apple’s Policies Skyfire for iPhone was built in accordance with Apple guidelines, including the use of a WebKit browser core shared with Safari, and h.264 adaptive streaming." That went up 50 days after waiting on an Apple decision. It might be they are doing some required tweaks? http://www.skyfire.com/press/blog/ "Skyfire can help unlock millions of videos previously unviewable for iOS users", |

I very much wonder if Adobe flash will land eventually.
I for one suspected that if it was on too early then an iPad versus netbook debate would have impeded sales. |

Skyfire (a browser alternative to Safari which allows iPods/iPhone etc. to view Flash videos by converting to HTML5 and re-streaming via their own servers) has been pulled from the App Store. It was nothing to do with Apple though. It was available in the US only a few hours and loads of people downloaded it. Seems Skyfire's servers couldn't handle the unprecedented traffic and they decided to stop selling it. They are intending to arrange for more capacity then relaunch it. http://www.tuaw.com/2010/11/04/skyfi...rom-app-store/

Maybe so they can put the price up to $20 or more considering that they have a monopoly?

Eugh. People paying for a browser. :S
Surely if this company can seemingly convert Flash videos on the fly then Flash could do it? Why use Flash when all videos in Flash can easily be converted to HTML5 which uses less battery and is more efficient? |

The bottom line is there are still countless websites out there which still use Flash for video (games are another can of worms). HTML5 is probably the future but at the moment Flash is still king. I wouldn't have minded getting Skyfire if it reached the UK App Store. Who knows when that will happen now. They're going to have to arrange some serious capacity if they intend to release Skyfire globally. Unless Adobe and Apple somehow manage to come to some mutually beneficial solution that would put Skyfire out of business in a stroke. I'm not holding my breath!
