Friday 26th November Soap Overnights
19:00- Emmerdale: 7.19m (33.8%)
19:30- Coronation Street: 8.41m (37.5%)
20:00- EastEnders: 7.91m (34.0%)
20:30- Coronation Street: 8.28m (34.7%)

Note: ITV soap ratings do not include HD
------------------------------------------
A bit low for EE yesterday - a non-clash episode hasn't fallen below 8m for a couple of months at least IIRC.

The Thursday clash appears to have dented EE's momentum last night as Monday and Tuesday were both over 9m. Should be back to normal come Monday but over the next couple of weeks Corrie should surge ahead because of its anniversary.

I'm expecting 10-11m on a regular basis for Corrie over the next few weeks excluding the live ep. The cold weather should only help it achieve this.

Although EE's rating was low last night, I also think Corrie should be rating better now that they're just a week and a bit away from their 50th Anniversary. There's been no upward momentum in recent weeks (apart from Jack's death). Also I can't believe they're not actually promoting the live episode on their adverts - they're saying "50th Anniversary... 4 Funerals and Wedding etc" but not mentioning there's a live episode on the Thursday !

The BBC promoted EastEnders at 25 but it was only the week before they shown adverts 'EastEnders 25th LIVE friday at 8:00pm'
so i expect corrie will next week (In Fact being ITV they WILL')

EastEnders and Corrie seem lower last night but that could be down to The weather(as there's been powercuts in some areas) and Late night shopping

My thoughts exactly! If anything ratings have done a U-turn this week (apart from the Thursday boost)..maybe due to the current storylines going round in circles a bit waiting for the climax in a weeks time?

Also it doesn't look like another advert has been produced, because all the efforts seem to have gone into the one that's on screen atm. Silly decision if there isn't going to be one.

Agree with you both. Corrie has been quite poor this week if I'm honest. This whole John storyline is really pi**ing me off at the minute. What the writers are thinking, god only knows. John isn't a character that can carry the whole show unlike David, Becky (wait's for angry responses ), The Websters etc.

ITV really need to promote the LIVE episode soon! Thursday is the worst rated of the week generally so they need to give the episode a big push to make sure people know when it is. After all, TV history is going to be made on that night. 50 years a massive achievement and deserves to be recognised.

I dont know why the soaps are so low given the weather around the country. Corrie should edge for 9m incl HD but it should still be a whole million higher IMO.

Here we have seen no snow
and many parts down south haven't either(we get ours Tues/weds by the looks) but with the North being so bad i did expect the ITV soaps to be a little higher

I am another one who is surprised Corrie's not edging in at least 10 million per episode given the promo has started.

Out of interest what was EE getting in the lead up to the 16.6 million?

I disagree however that Corrie can't get 16 or 17 million viewers. Low figures at the moment don't mean a thing. X Factor can get 12 million on the Sat and peak at over 16 million on the Sun.

For the two months before-hand, EastEnders was getting 9.5-10.5m in the overnights regularly.

In the 25th Anniversary week, its overnight ratings were: 10.4m, 10.5m, 10.8m (despite clash with Emmerdale)

NO i fully expected Corrie over 10million.
Can't remember but right from Last December till mid march(i think) EastEnders didn't dip below 10million and it had quite a few 11/12m ratings.

I expect with the promotion and everything corrie Live will break EastEnders record

Disappointing figures all round for last night methinks but it should be business as usual come Monday.

The reason for Enders drop last night was it started at 19:57 and finshed early, the rating is for BBC1 20:00-20:30 so should rise a fair bit in final ratings.

Looks like you're right. Just saw the Corrie advert and it now says there's a LIVE episode on Thursday 9th.

Maybe the soaps have been overtaken by the Strictly/ X Factor/ I'm A Celeb bandwagon and people are getting a bit tired of them. Don't get me wrong, Corrie and Eastenders still do very well in such a competitive market, but they just don't automatically top the ratings any more. I think some of the depressing storylines and bad acting aren't what people want. Certainly a disaster isn't the way Coronation St should celebrate its anniversary as a lot of people have fonder memories of the more innocent, older show.

At the same time though it needs to move with the times and remain competitive. I'm not a Corrie fan but it should have a dramatic and high rating 50th anniversary week to mark such a milestone.

I agree a storyline about a pensioner's cat going missing filling four episodes probably would bomb in the ratings now, but it's not Eastenders. Not that the old one wasn't all sweetness and light, of course.

I just asked you this in the other ratings thread but why is it a poor share according to you? looking at this thread the EE share is consistant with always. It's barely different to last Monday.

EE by my reckoning is actually the most consistant soap of the lot yet some on here seem to love playing it down while making out Corrie and Emmerdale are rating great yet we all know come Thursday Corrie will be around 8 million again.

I mean seriously.
