Good ratings for Corrie last night so welldone to them.
Emmerdale also saw a rise which once again i put that down to the weather

the biggest of the night was how well EastEnders held up against Corrie's 1stever Episode
I expected it to be below 6million actually.

Tonight i expect EastEnders will be up and so will Emmerdale (7:00pm) but i think Emmerdales 8:00pm will be dented and corrie will keep at least 13m of those viewers.

I still think after lastnights rating 17m isn't out of the question

Corrie averaged 12.9m (inc. HD) between 8.30-9pm yesterday, not 13.2m as initially thought. A small difference but worth noting.

Does it matter whether it was written in the news of the world or on the moon?
it cost 5million to across these 7 episodes which is also what ITV said anyway it's just the paper had the breakdown of what everything cost

It got 13.7 million for the 8:30pm-9pm episode.

Brilliant rating.

Impressive figures for Corrie last night, well done. Impressed how well th B&W first ep did too, I would have thought 5-5.5m tops given attention span of people thesedays!

It got 13.7m between 8.30-8.55pm.

Usually on this thread we post the full slot figures (20:30-21:00) which was 12.9m, but certainly it has been noted in the ratings post that it got 13.7m for the time it was actually on air.

It'll get 14m+ in the official figures I bet

Including HD, it's about 11.7m for Coronation Street. Not that bad out of its normal timeslot, in all honesty.

I think that's pretty good for Corrie out of it's usual slot. I think tonight will do very well as Wednesday is the natural home for Corrie I think.

EastEnders recovered well from Monday, standard rating for it really.

Wonder if the 7pm start will catch many people out tonight?

Corrie's my fave but I would have thought more people might have tuned in given the hype, the event and the occasion. It's only up a million viewers on its normal ratings which indicates none usual watchers aren't that bothered by events on screen and aren't bothering to watch.

It would have certainly caught me out if you didn't just mention that! Thanks.

Well firstly, Jack's death episode grabbed slighlty less than 11.7m overnights and these were praised as amazing ratings. Jack's death was on a Monday so this was the main ratings night for the programme. To get what will turn out to be 12m on a Tuesday will be astonishing. When was the last time we saw such high ratings on a Tuesday?

Also, with the tram crash playing out all week, people will be tempted to miss out the middle episodes as we all know that the deaths are verified on Friday and also the landmark live episode is on Thursday.

Tuesday was bound to suffer, and I think tonight will suffer due to an early start. Thursday should hopefully see a bounce back, especially with the growing Thursday ratings over previous weeks and the fact it is live.

As another poster made in another thread, it is better to have a week's worth of episodes above 11m than one huge episode at 16m. The whole point of the 50th Anniversary is to catch new viewers and carry them along.

Including HD and for the full slot: 11.83m (42.6%). Will be ~13m in the officials.

Scheduling wise Corrie was a bit in the wilderness last night after two episodes of Emmerdale, an ep of EastEnders and half an hour in to Holby City all this on a day when it doesent usually air I think it did very well to hold on to such a large proportion of viewers.

I know people talk about Corrie's year-on-year rise being very slight but the highest official rating it got in the year of 2009 was 11.46m. By the end of this year its sure to have topped that figure on about a dozen different occasions.

Thanks!

Technically shouldn't the comparison be what Corrie got in its 25th Anniversary year i.e. 1985. I think then we will see that Corrie well and truly triumphed over EE haha!

11.83m for Corrie and a 42% share is very impressive considering that it's never on a Tues night.

From memory I dont think Corrie was doing too well around 85/86. Wonder if anyone has the figures, it would be interesting to check.

Oh, did you have to post this? It's just asking for a Corrie vs EE argument.
