The EastEnders ratings at current are to do with the scandal the show is involved in rather than the actual plot line so no one should try and use these figures as a means of justifying the storyline. The fact the BBC are now ending the story earlier than planned just proves how nervous they have become through the backlash.

EE ratings are virtually the same, maybe a few hundred thousand more than usual.

Yeah there's not really that much change
Still the Small Group of people that complained
was a complete waste of time anyway
Becuase Ratings haven't fallen and nothing is getting done about the storyline.

I find it very sad how some people cant understand EastEnders isn't real and have to abuse an Actress when she's out with her Family

So EE's ratings haven't gone up at all despite this massive scandal??

That would indicate people who don't watch but have seen the hysteria find it a turn off imho so its worse.

No it doesn't
I know people that have seen the papers and thought as usual they are OTT but they still havent' watched EastEnders becuase they don't normally do.

It shows that NO One is turning the show off though

Dan, just because 6,000 complained, it doesn't mean only 6,000 people were annoyed by it - many more would have been 'shocked/appalled' by it, but are not sad enough to complain about it.

And the damage is done in the long term, not sure. Big Brother is a prime example. (note: I'm not saying it'll drop substantially ratings wise like the aforementioned show, but it could still drop a bit)

Eastenders makes fantastic ratings again. I do wish people would give up complaining though as it's getting very boring now!

Tuesday 6th Jan

EastEnders 11.04 (41.9%)

Yes i know
that but what im saying it the people that did complain was pointless.

I don't think there will be any Damage tbh unless some of the 'Big' members of the cast leave

Shame the show has seen no boost because of this outrage. It could be said ratings might have been lower than this point last year had it not been for the press coverage. So maybe the reason there doesn't seem to be a boost is because EE ratings would have been down anyway but went up slightly because of the scandal.....

Not really as since xmas week ratings were high anyway.
The shares this year look higher then that of last year anyway but also take into account the Who Killed Archie storyline was running last year

The ratings will go up given that EE is splashed all over the press. Doesn't mean people like the storyline, just that they want to see what's going on.

The ratings traditionally rise in January anyway because its cold and dark and people stay in more whilst they're still paying for Christmas.

On New Year's Day 2010 EE was watched by 12m, 3m more than the number who watched on the same day last week so I think the press coverage over the last few days has helped EE to an extent. I'm still very shocked its less than 1m ahead of Corrie and that Corrie topped it on Monday night. Its basically like the norm in very not normal circumstance. Even before the controversy started it was THE major soap storyline of the New Year period, headlining every soap magazine there is.

You can't compare New Years day 2010 with this years

New Years Day was a Friday

The BBC put out EastEnders at 6:10pm
Dr who (tennants Final) 6:40pm
and then at 7:50pm EastEnders

This year New Years Day was a Saturday and EastEnders had rubbish lead-ins to it's 8:30pm slot

Strong ratings for EastEnders once again.

10.5million is only 0.2 down on tuesday.

I expect tonight to do well too.

Another good rating for EastEnders there. Coronation Street doing well too. Emmerdale doing excellently I can see thursday's fire making over 9million easily.

I think EastEnders was down as it was a friday but I'm sure it will be back to over 10million by Monday.
