Hollyoaks ratings starting to really bounce up. First Lool altogether nearly had 600,000 viewers. The share is going up too. Could be even better next week, with the Silas story picking up and the weather is supposed to be cooler. Could get up to 1.4 maybe?

The other soaps seem to have stalled and the weather was not that good yesterday, but I think they too will pick up a lot.

Ouch for Coronation Street.

Wow, I'm very shocked that Hollyoaks is increasing in the summer. Very good.

Looks like the ratings are starting to reflect quality.

Yeah, I also noticed Hollyoaks has been improving in the ratings recently. Here's the monthly overnight averages for Hollyoaks so far this year (thanks to dave01):

Jan - 1.21m (5.5%)
Feb - 1.18m (5.6%)
Mar - 1.09m (5.5%)
Apr - 0.96m (5.4%)
May - 0.97m (5.3%)
Jun - 0.87m (5.0%)

So the 1.2m rating it got yesterday is well up from what it has been getting in the last few months, about 30% higher. The 6.5% share yesterday was also about a share point up too. And yesterday's rating was up +13% compared to the same episode last year. It's been getting 1m+ more often recently. Is there a major storyline going on at the moment?

I know HO has a smaller audience so increase and decreases of viewers is not as big, but it seems to be the only soap getting better ratings, even if it is a slow rise, but the e4 fl counts a lot too. Im sure c4 will be happy if this carries on, I can't see it going no where tbh. Figures in June were dropping off at 600k to 800k through the week. Recently it has been between 1.1 to 1.3 and I looked at barb and there was a top 30 rating of 1.44. The highest figure of the year I think. The show is just so much more natural, not rushed in a week and the show feels more like a community, which makes me want to watch it more.

Nothing major, until tonights episode where the Silas story is about to gather pace and into next week with the investigation and they are doing a press conference I think? Also a reconstruction of India's murder.

Really pleased to see Hollyoaks finally gaining back some viewers!! who says soaps can;t increase their ratings in the summer

Awful for Corrie. That's a really bad figure. Nice win for EE although nothing to write home about as that rating is nothing great itself.

Not a great night for any of the soaps though the weather was very hot last night. Percentage wise of total viewers they were quite high though compared to the rest of the week.

Some very low ratings last night. A shame Emmerdale has been so low this week. I've really enjoyed Leyla's final week and will miss her! I knew she was leaving, but I had no idea this week was her final week. Another rating under 7m for EE. That's 2 Friday's in a row now. Although I suspect that the second Corrie is below 7m as that figure is tape-checked. I think overall though, the soaps have had quite a good summer in ratings terms. Come September, the only way will be up!

Wish you would visit some of the negative Emmerdale threads today. Its all doom and gloom yet these ratings havent gone done like previous summers.

Low ratings for the Soaps Yesterday but the weather was good yesterday so no surprise. As Roscoe Barnes says though i do think the soaps have had good ratings this Summer but they will get higher once September comes

Wasn't there some kind of football on last night?
could have also been an effect to the soaps rating lower

With seven months of the year gone, here are the official averages for the three main soaps so far this year and their rise or fall compared to the average at the same point last year:

2011 Official Averages
Coronation Street: 9.57m
EastEnders: 9.18m
Emmerdale: 7.57m

Year-on-Year Changes
Coronation Street: +32,000 (+0.3%)
EastEnders: -156,000 (-1.7%)
Emmerdale: +170,000 (+2.3%)

Ratings include HD, but does not include ITV1+1/BBC3 etc

Coronation Street is currently the most watched soap of the year based on first showings. Emmerdale and Coronation Street are both up slightly year-on-year, whilst EastEnders has dipped a little bit. Overall, however, it seems to be a steady year so far in the ratings for the three main soaps - no big declines but no big rises either.
