Which, if any, of the contestants, if for some reason had to pull out do you think have already secured a future in the business?

I think Matt, Rebecca, Aiden, Mary, Wagner and Cher have.
(Cher and Wagner don't appeal to me but I still think that they have options in the business)

I am not necessarily talking about international mega stardom but making a comfortable living.

Matt's the one who has potential and momentum to do it right now. A lot would depend on the manner of his departure but I think he'd get a deal pretty quickly.
Maybe Rebecca would too but I'm not sure that she doesn't need longer to build up a fan base.

I don't quite see it for any of the others. Horrible suspicion that Katie W is marketable. Wagner wouldn't have a chance. His glory lies in stopping in XF long enough to stick Cowell in the eye. I don't believe his fans would care to buy his stuff. Track after track of that!!!

Only Matt and Rebecca.

Aiden is the least likely to have a career from this.

Mary may but will always be compared to Susan Boyle.

Cher, they might sign her sometime after the show but she will have a very limited shelf life and they would have to give her some outstanding material. I question whether she will ever have much success though.

Wagner will possibly release some kind of novelty record but then will disapear.

This show is not like American Idol in that contestants by and large don't tend to do that well from it. Due to the size a diversity of the UK market the industry is not as likely to take a risk. Going back to my original comment Matt is the most likely to do well and Rebecca might.

Rebecca, Aiden and Matt

I don't think Wagner has a chance.

One Direction, Rebecca and possibly Aiden (if given the correct songs, hope he doesn't win as Cowell will ruin him) - there is someting about both Aiden and Rebecca that I can just see them being quite successful

Matt I just cant see being successful - dunno why, just a feeling.

For Acts like Cher and Katie, they are just too hated to be really successful

I like Matt but he just reminds me of James Blunt etc, not very original.

Aiden is special though;

Rebecca is too good for this type of contest, her voice is in a league of its own

Cher can't sing without a big production behind her

There are so many failed artists out there already who are better than any of the contestants on this year's show.

Much as it pains me to say it, I think the boy band have the best chance because they appeal to the same kiddy market that have made Justin Beiber into a huge star.

1 D : teenage girls in love <3
Aidan: scary, intense, but I think he will keep ppl interested for a while longer
Cher: She's considered 'unique' ...
Katie : All the controversy will work for her, and she has a nice 'colour' in her voice.

As said in a previous thread, Matt is genuinely good, nice to look at, and he pulls of the boy - next -door - look, but next year X factor will bring just the same type of guy and ppl will forget 'Matt with the hat' easily.

All the rest are forgettable. I do like Nicolo's comments' on twitter and will continue to follow him

BTW I do not see Wagner as making a living singing, just being a novelty celeb.

People will remember Matt's Ewan McColl a long time, especially if he gets to sing the whole of it again with a simple acoustic setting on the show. Plus he's got two bands behind him (or maybe in the future too) with whom he's built up a stock of good material and plenty of experience. Seems to me all the man needs is the start.

(You can find both Seven Summers and Darwyn on iTunes, folks, if you want to hear 'em )

That's what I think of MATT but a lot of people seem to think he's going to win.

That could be because alot of people (myself included) don't think he sounds like James Blunt at all? I dont even like James Blunt, though I think Matt is amazingly good.

Not of course that sounding like James Blunt has done James Blunt any harm. Last I heard he was managing to keep the wolf from the door.

Despite that fact that many hate her, Cher has had interest from record execs, producers and artists here and in the states already. I think she is mostly likely to be successful after the show.

Well, Jazz and blues is a massive market in the UK, and even moreso in America... Vegas singers doing a few performances can become millionaires in no time. People pay to listen to great music. Plus the music is timeless...the fan base solid rather than a fickle passing trend like the pop chart fans tend to be. So Rebecca should do well. She can't be marketed in any cheap way. She also has the kind of voice good writers would want to write material for. Still has massive potential from what has been seen on the show.

Matt could do well, still not 100% sure; depends on how they market him. I think he's great, I just don't truthfully know where he can go, the market he is trying to enter is pretty clogged up, which is why I think his band never really took off, who are not too bad. He seems to have done a lot in the past, making these videos and stuff... he's the most accomplished at the minute, what you see is what you'll get.

Aiden, performance/musical. He'll be cool, make a good living. He's got a good teen heart throb/rebel thing about him: Johnny Depp/James Dean - the quintessential misunderstood artist.

Wand - short term success. couldn't care if I never saw them again. Typical generic stuff.

Cher - longer than Wand, should do very well at at first though, will get to work with a lot of people.

Mary - gigs in Ireland, will make good living if it health doesn't get in the way.

The rest - no idea.

One Direction - Their fanbase and support is reaching frightening levels already.
Cher - Sell fairly well with a few singles but could struggle longterm
Matt - Decent album seller but will struggle on singles
Rebecca - Should sell well in her niche market
with decent songwriters behind her
Dont really see any of the others doing that well though Aiden might suprise.

All of them have "made it" really. Only thing is they will all have a relatively short shelf life like all reality show contestants. Even Leona has waned.

Rebecca for sure, her voice is special
Matt will do well too ,perhaps a single.
Cher will be signed by simon and pushed hard so she will have some initial success , but it wont last long
If treyC can get with the right people and style/song she will have a hit single at least ,her voice is exceptional.

the West End beckons for Mary (and an album)
cant see much for the others tbh

By "made it" I meant secured a long term future in the business

Then none of them.

Most of them will get a single (novelty). A few will get an album. Then for most it's Haven reunion gigs. Depending on her choices Rebecca could have a solid career in smaller clubs etc.

I think Wagner could make a tidy sum doing live performances and PAs, but I don't think he is as charismatic/good with people as someone like Chico (and he's made a small fortune).

Chico did a PA at one of our local clubs and he was great. Did a few songs but he spent time with everyone that wanted a pic etc. Picked up a few grand for a nights work. it's better than a building site.

Chico had a lovely way with him and I think would be a great at that. I wouldn't have voted for him on the show as I think that it should be about the singing but good luck to him for making the most of his opportunity

Tabby has also done a few gigs and been the exact same, a real gent. I can see it being a problem for people like Storm who I think would see himself as someone important. A kind of "Do you know who I am?" type person.
