There's a campaign being launched by the poppy appeal to get this years single to number one. The single is released next week, november 7th.

the campaign can be found here... http://www.facebook.com/poppysingle2010

However, this is a single with a difference. To honour the 2 minutes silence, thats what the single is. 2 minutes of silence. The video, which is yet to be released, features many celebrities such as Paul O' Grady, Andy Murray, The Saturdays, David Cameron and many more.

For a pound, you can help raise money for this really good cause.

I don't believe in war, yet i will buy this. Those guys are doing a great job, even if it's not my opinion, they're still risking their lives for the country, which is honourable, and for a £1, why not download it next week!?

Why not just buy a poppy instead?

Indeed. Then you dont have to look at david cameron in silence.

I mean wtf sort of self adulation is that, these war heroes have fallen help them by staring at these pricks in silence and remembering, like - we, the pricks, are remembering them (and conveniently raising our profiles and getting our mucky temporal mugs on a hopefully far more timeless moment of contemplation.)

Thanks very much for this info

I don't think it's 'ridiculous', or 'shmaltzty shite' and certainly not a 'waste of my money'

I HAVE bought a poppy, and will download this for such a worthwhile cause..

I've bought a poppy to, and I'm certainly not denigrating the good name of the fallen by not buying into this. I'd be marginally less vitriolic about it all if they didnt insist on putting 'current' faces in the campaign like bastions of moral contemplation, it's gross. Oh look the f*cking saturdays are all upset about WW1, how noble.

Wow, never realised you guys were that selfish.

There's guys risking their lives, and all you care about is what you get in return for you £1.

Nice one.

Not selfish in the least, I'll happily give the equivalent to a poppy appeal box without the 'benefit' of 2 minutes silence while a bunch of mugs stare back at me through my tellybox with their own agendas.

Why is the single silent, that will be wierd being played on radio 1. I'll just buy a blank disc, actully I've got 5 of them .

I honestly don't get it, why release a single that is blank, it's daft.

What's wrong with just buying a poppy anyway, thier are more worthwhile causes out there.

If i'm sticking a couple nuggests in a charity box I wont be contributing to the onanistic farce of self promotion that anyone involved in this project is displaying, at the complete disregard to the sanctity of the event commemorated, but yopu know, it's a free country

Plus, silence as music.....

It's desecrating 4'33 which was a timely and expressive piece when we were, as a listening culture, beginning to observe the intracacies of sound, the grey are between sound and music, the awkwardness of silence, the majesty of dysphoria....

...to rebrand that and SELL reverance, well that;s fu*king disgusting....

why dont we sell one minute silences of everyone who's ever been remembered....put your pennies in the pot dear, it's okay you get 'spomething' back.

This is the most twisted thing I've read in months.

Stupid idea. I'll stick some money in the collecting tin but I'll not be buying this.

I f**king hate it when celebrities endorse worthwhile causes because you just know that 90% of the time they're only doing it for self-publicity.
