Cher low in votes?
Makes me wonder if she's been low the last few weeks.
She was okay tonight, but the praise was waaaaayyyyyyyy over the top - compared to the likes of Rebecca and Trayc it was very average and amateur stuff. Cher's vocals were pretty shaky and weak. I think people expected her to be really bad, hence why she seems better to some than what she actually was. Zero expectancy. It seems they are protecting her for the time being, coming off the back of the booing, and negativity, etc. This might go against Cher to be honest, people are not that stupid... Simon will watch that back and be very embarrased at what he said... |

So it's not just me thinking that. I said more or less the same thing in another thread about 1/4 hour ago. (had to go and read the spoiler thread from Strictly since then - shame

The bar was set very very low for Cher
Can you imagine if Matt or Rebecca had performed like that |

I think Cher did really well, but yes, the judges were OTT. The more they hype up Cher, the more she'll get hated, because some of the public are like that, and seem to simply favour the people who they think are underrated (which eventually makes them overrated, and everybody stops liking them again).
The song Cher sang is ALREADY #40 on iTunes though. Her performance has already made an impact, and introduced a lot of the viewers to a song that they're now even paying money to listen to! So I guess she can't've been that bad!

It looks that way alright : they give her the pimp slot and Cowell tells her she gave the performance of the series (which she didn't)....they were clearly bailing her out, maybe even from an immediate elimination.

I think she is. Somethings going on because if it was working they wouldnt have bothered with this apparent "shock" gimmick. Her proving she can sing (yes, in a singing competition) and not having to hide behind a rap, or a big production was their golden ticket with her. And its something i would have thought they tried to cash in on nearer the final. So it kind of suggests they are worried about her vote numbers and maybe the criticism has become too deafening.
Her vocal was average and the praise was a joke. Best of the series? PMSL Its clear favourtism, they want her on the tour at least imo. Which mean they want her in the last 8 at least! |

Last week was supposed to be a double eviction and they changed it at the last minute to a single, ( I know this because a bet I put on at the bookies was refunded)
Did the show do this because they knew that an act they want to do well was near the bottom two? This week they put Cher in the top spot and change her style, so was it her?? she splits public opinion and their comments to her seemed a little over the top tonight, Is she as popular as the show would like her future earning potential to be?? are they are trying to keep Cher in longer to maximise her exposure ?? Rebecca awesome again, They release the voting figures at the end of the series, it'll be interesting to see who was near the bottom 3 at the end of week 2 |

She might have been last week (7th/8th in the voting). I'll be surprised if she isn't in the top 3 with her performance tonight...she's not my cup of tea but she did amazingly well.

Wasn't there a theory based off of last years results that the person announced as safe first is usually the one just above the bottom? I think Cher could be in trouble as she really doesn't seem to be as popular as people think. Most people either never liked her or have gone off her. Perhaps they are trying to save her from making bottom 2?

Yep,maybe they feared she was in danger of immediate elimination (and Cowell and the producers have full access to the voting figures). They probably reckoned a Cher exit in week 4 or 5 would be disastrous for the series.

You just have to check Twitter and Youtube to see what a massive fan base Cher has. She'll be in the final 3 with One Direction.

It wasn't the exit, but I would have said Danyl in the bottom 2 was the 'shock' of the last series. Even though the judges saved him I don't think he ever really recovered as a serious contender after such an early appearance on the potential chopping block.
Now this is just my opinion but I think the criticisms of Cher's abilities have been even more acute than Danyl. Even people who weren't fans of his singing style (like myself) could at least admit that he was technically proficient. Throw in Gamu-gate and an early appearance in the bottom 2 or 3 would probably be even more damaging for Cher than it was for Danyl. |

think people who have watched for years know Cowells manipulation, and we dont get fobbed off by his utter BS he spouts and the other singers on his label come on to hype up now it is Cher, Cher Cher on the spinoff show |

The media have a lot to answer for when it comes to creating mass hate and love for stars. In recent times reality tv stars. I think the girl did ok. She proved she isn't a one trick pony as Louie said and will have won over some more fans tonight. Cher certainly seems to have a little something that others see in her, even if lots of us don't. Each to their own I guess. I do hope that they learn from this, that we dont want all the gimmicks! Just some good singing and entertainment. Boy do i sound like my grandma lmao!
