Tesco and o2's masks
mktrix

Hi,

Does anyone know wether tesco uses all of o2's masks resulting in all of o2's network or do they only use half, or 75% etc?

I ask this as Vodafone (current operator) told me that Tesco doesn't rent all of O2's masks. I told him that O2 and Vodafone had great coverage in my area, but i was looking for a contract with Tesco, he told me that due to the above, i shouldn't expect full o2 coverage.

I don't know whether this Vodafone guy is telling me porkies or not.

Thanks
My name's Scott

I''d be bery surprised if they bothered to only give Tesco certain coverage, it does sound like a load of sales bullplop to me.

O2 and Vodafone have a mast sharing agreement in place. I don't know whether Tesco's agreement with O2 covers this.
So its certainly possible that the Tesco virtual network doesn't 'use' all of the O2 sites.
My gut feeling is that Tesco do 'use' all of O2's sites, but I have no proof of that.

Tesco Mobile is a full MVNO of O2, so they have full network access.

The term "mast" is generally incorrect in this context.

A mast is merely a structure that raises something above ground level.

Sharing a mast doesn't mean that two networks are sharing the same cell site.

The deal that O2 and Vodafone has only goes as far as sharing the same land and buildings, as well as pooling the costs of things like Air Conditioning and electricity. The equipment used in both networks is still separate, even at locations covered by their agreement (which given the infancy of the agreement isn't that many).

I know, no-one mentioned any form of equipment or network share . You're the only one who has mentioned sharing anything apart from masts.
I think its very unlikely, but in theory the mast share agreement could state that the equipment mounted thereon is restricted.

The rest of your post suggested otherwise.

I think you have misunderstood the use of the word site. (you make the same error in your own post where you have emboldened the words cell site)
