Yes I did see Chris skating on this years tour and read the reports on here. I think he overdid the stunts, and dropped poor Brianne a few times! He needs to be more careful with his skating partner.

I think Hayley is as good as Suzanne and Claire. Gary is a good skater, but quite boring with the dancing.

I personally think Hayley was better than Suzanne and Claire. I'm not criticising Suzanne or Claire because I think they are both brilliant but I can't imagine either of them doing the Jai Ho half as well.

Loved Chris and Ray but Gary bored me, he was just too slow if you know what I mean.

Jai Ho was over rated and didnt transfer well to the bigger rink.
Clare is a fantastic skater and lovely to watch, Gary bored me to tears and dont get why people were insisting he was a good skater?? To me Keiron was the one who progressed the most last series and should have been in the final BUT given the show as with ALL reallity shows tends to be rigged to a certain degree then it was never gonna happen.

Because technically Gary was excellent. He had no performance skills and couldn't sell a routine to save his life but, despite being boring, he was a good skater.

He was a good skater but I got really fed up of watching him do the same thing everyweek, I could never understand why he wasn't given a more challenging routine!

Given all the complaints about his performances, I couldn't understand why he wasn't given any character routines. He should have been given something like Mikey's Cecilia routine or Kieron's Pink Panther routine, to try and help with the performance aspect.

Because technically he was the best male skater on the show. His routines were samey. Agree about Keiron he should have been in the final.

Jai Ho was a brilliant routine on the show, but agree not so wowish on the bigger rink.

technically Suzanne and Claire were better than Hayley (maybe not so good at the acting part). I liked Hayley BTW - she just wasn't my fave.

Because he couldn't have done it! Don't Torvill and Dean choose the routines to suit the skaters? I got that impression.

I couldn't understand why he did so well. Dancing is a big part of the show. It's not " Skating on ice " it's " Dancing on ice ".

He's an actor - he should have been able to do it. There's a big difference between selling a pure dance routine and acting a character routine and he should have been able to do the latter.

Karen, Nicky and Robin all say that when they judge a performance, they start with the feet and work their way up because they look at the technical side first and then the performance side. That's why when they and Torvill & Dean, were all competing, the marking system was first technical scores and then artistic. (Nowadays, it's a completely different system altogether.) Dancing on ice is not about dancing, it's about performance skating. Technical competence is just as important, if not more so, than the performance and when Jason and the other performance judges talking about it being "Dancing on Ice and not Skating on Ice" they're actually showing their ignorance of what figure skating is.

Being an actor, maybe Gary should have been able to do those routines, but I still doubt he could. Kieron and Brianne's Pink Panther routine was amazing!

Whatever the show's about it's called " Dancing on Ice ", and Ice dancing is what I expect to see.

Well, I agree with you on that! I thought it was their best routine and was quite surprised they didn't do it again in the final.

Jayne & Chris really did try to be fair with the Winter Olympics & Pulp Fiction routines but he obviously just didn't have it in him.

Agree 100% with you there! Kieron was my fave male skater in this series, I loved his quirkiness and his partnership with Brianne was fantastic. Him and Mikey suited the 'fun' routines, Gary just wasn't exciting enough to pull it off and I think that T&D were well aware of that.

Please may I just point out that just because a celeb has been seen skating, it doesn't automatically mean they're going to be in DOI this year? Some of the names mentioned may be in DOI but there's no guarantee they all will be - especially if they only want a dozen or so contestants! It really all is still only speculation at the moment.

There are to be 16 couples and that came from more than one source.

I did say a dozen OR SO. On purpose, because I wasn't sure of the exact number. However, what I meant was that a lot more than 16 possible contestants have been mentioned, even if you only count those who have been seen in ice rinks. If all of those are definites, we'd probably have about 60 celebs* in this year's DOI, not merely 16!

* Slight exaggeration, I know, but you get my point, I'm sure.

Thanks for stating the obvious. However when people are actually seen training especially at this late stage it does add weight to the speculation. Some people on certain lists have not been seen training so it doesn't take a genius to work out they are not involved or maybe we want to throw the blinkers on. Anyway we'll see soon.

Its arguably impossible to tell with the girls as the show has changed, the choregraphy has changed in style and the risk factors allowed now look smaller. Hayley showed she could do the same moves as the other two, but, like all the females in the last two series, her routines have less in them and are shorter and she didn't develop her big lifts into bigger ones still as the series progressed. Jai Ho is a brilliant routine, but there's no reason to think Suzanne or Clare couldn't do it, or that Hayley couldn't do Music or Since You've Been Gone with a couple more lifts. Its even more difficult judging from the tours as , for some bizarre reason, they keep on fielding their top past females without their own partners and with people who don't match them for size or power - so we never did get to see what a two sided equal competition of people from different series would look like.

The fact that Jai Ho's got the strongest, sustained, acting theme and music to match, doesn't tell you anything about who can act better. I have seen all three act live outside DOI and I don't think there's much difference - indeed if she can do a cartwheel I really want to see someone have a moment of inspiration and let Hayley follow Suzanne into Chicago.
