I have had little or no data from Orange for most of the day. I called cs and their was a recorded message saying they were having data problems. Not sure how wide spread the problem is .

...and this from the network with the most users wanting to churn if you believe the recent survey!

Oh dear.

Seems to be a rather large problem with 2g and 3g data from what the call center are saying :S

Hope they sort it soon.

Surprised you didn't notice the day before. Was wobbly for 2 days.

Ahhh that'll be the unbalanced survey from YouGov that proves very little?

Orange data has been up and down for weeks

There was the 2 day outage a few weeks back and mine is down yet again

I called Orange last week to ask for my PAC, and I got the usual "Is there anything we can do to make you stay"

When I pointed out that i've got an iphone and when out an about, I may as well just have a basic £10 phone because the data is so flakey that I can just use my iphone for calls and texts

The retention advisors response - " Well yes there's nothing to keep you, we know the data service is crap"

2 days later received my PAC in the post

Orange are aware of the data issue for some customers. It is currently being addressed as a high priority.

I say this while at work on my iPhone with no data issues at all on 3G. Data is only down/intermittent for some customers presently.

Anyone who connects via the orangeinternet and orangewap APN's are affected (which is most customers).

iPad/Dongle/Blackberry users are unaffected as they use different APN's.

Also, corporate accounts that have a dedicated APN are unaffected also.

The word is there is no actual problem, other than high load on the servers. However I don't buy that.

^^^ This

I don't believe it's overload either

I read somewhere about Orange changing the HLR equipment for cheaper stuff

I know what an HLR is but not techy when it comes to Mobile Networks, I left one2one 13 years ago and my knowledge dried up

There seems to be ongoing problems with a lot of urban areas at the min. Manchester (City Centre) data is appalling, I check frequently the congestion in the area and only one mast comes up. However if this one mast is the congested one then I assume it is the main one and thus other ones in the area are picking up the slack.

I can't speak for the problems experienced recently nationwide, however I do know that the company has been cack handed of late and not kept up with investment in capacity it seems. There are ongoing upgrades to the 30 most congested areas, this still doesn't solve the problem for everywhere else that maybe suffering with less than optimal speed.

Maybe its the merger to blame I don't know, data has been crap on the network since around June. But as far as some of our more esteemed colleagues in Network support go......"there isn't an issue". (Excluding Plymouthbloke) Like customers even staff hit a brick wall and we notify the directors and still nothing seems to happen.

Aside from that however 2G has always been spot on for me.....go figure?

I'm in Manchester City Centre also, and go from full 3g with no internet, to no 3g at all, just 2g gprs, through to 2g with no internet

Orange have said it's my iphone (it isn't as other sims work fine)

My sim is faulty - it isn't as it's only just been replaced, basically balming overyone but themselves

One solution would be for iPhone users to have access to the orangedata APN. That would segregate the iPhone users along with iPads, therefore balancing the load.

That of course, is possibly too easy to implement

PS: Don't bother trying that APN as it won't work unless you have an iPad tariff.

Why do you want it to go down again? They won't let you out of the contract early because data is down

I can vouch for that. Don't know if it'll knock the service out though....

Well since i'm paying for a monthly data allowance, they should be able to provide one.

The user a few posts back up got his PAC code because of another outage ..

Yep, that was me

I got my PAC as I was out of contract anyway

Orange are absolutely ridiculous! No data here, and most of the time no service on my phone so keep having to go into airplane mode and then network search

No doubt Orange will blame the fact it's p**sing down in Manchester.

I'm giving it until the end of the week, if it's not any better then i'm off

Funny that, we had someone in today and it turns out the opt-in of the network roaming maybe causing problems for iPhone users. For some reason it doesn't work properly and I seen it myself today. The company is having a torrid time with the data network at the moment, I think its done an O2 and gotten to big too fast with little investment. We has a message delivered today that some people maybe suffering with the same problems. I get puzzled by the fact that companies don't forsee this when they launch new and popular handsets.

A lot of people blame the iPhone but in general its all smartphne users and the growth of mobile broadband. Try convincing a business customer its only a temporary problem when you know for a fact its been crap for near 6 months does make it challenging.

Funny that......someone did actually blame the weather today in tech support.....then also blamed the sim card and then the phone.....couldn't make their mind up.

Give it time however I sense with the recent cock ups and the kicking its receiving from staff about the standard of the network it will be resolved sometime over the next few weeks. Manchester has it bad in comparison to some locations given the amount of people that come through the area. However you have every right to feel pissed and want to leave. If you do though, make sure the new network gives you the right deal and good coverage (evidently Orange isn't at the min).

When i was out today i tried accessing DS on my iPhone and it was working fine on 3G, then i loaded one page and got a message from Orange instead saying they are having technical difficulties and cannot recognise some details at the moment, to try and restart my iPhone to fix the issue, i did that and it worked straight away after i restarted.

I think it is affecting some areas alot more severely than other areas, because for me down on the South Coast (Southampton-Portsmouth) i barely ever have any problems and 3G is excellent.

I am normally a very patient person. However Orange are even beginning to cheese me off at the moment. The Internet spent most of the day saying we dont know what phone you have or just been very slow (as in Vodafone 2G data faster then Orange HSDPA). Come on Orange this is getting beyond a joke now.
