Closer than expected for me. I thought Cheryl would outsell Rihanna by at least 50k.

Still, that's a good amount to sell, even if it didn't get to number1.

What a sad world we live in.

Someone utterly devoid of any actual musical talent really does not deserve this.

The buyers are total muppets.

So Cheryl only managed to sell 30k more than Rihanna, who hasn't done any promo yet?

Not great.

Congratulations to Cheryl. Not going to say she did/deserve it, because at the end of the day who went to number 1??

Cheryl.

To be fair FFTL is a much better song and more instant. I'm surprised this got to number 1 to be honest. It's okay but seems a bit lazy like Rihanna's track.

If only Rihanna's song had been released on iTunes tomorrow she would have smashed Cheryl Coles record for the fastest selling single of 2010. It sold a lot more than I expected, without any promotion. Now she's done it on X Factor that will give it a boost tomorrow.

Rihanna for #1 after THAT performance, i really love the song!

and Cheryl's Promise This i much prefer over FFTL! definitively! i mean the other is so boring whereas the Alouette hook gives it a bit more rhythm i think.

nevertheless, Only Girl is a class stomper tune! and her performance tonight has sealed it! her 3rd UK #1 i am hoping for next Sunday!

also those sales are very strong too!

Just to think it only took her a radio interview on Radio 1, an hour's interview with Piers Morgan on Saturday night, countless newspaper interviews including The Guardian and The Sun and a pre-recorded performance on X Factor which was clearly mimed to get her single to number one. For a woman who can't sing very well, can't dance all that good, has a team of record producers and songwriters to produce all her singles and albums for her, free access to autotune and uses one of the most watched TV shows in the country to give her publicity she's done alright for herself. She gives hope to every other fame-seeking women out there who also have personalities like a vaccum and zero talent that they themselves can also become successful showbiz personalities and have number 1 selling singles. It makes you proud of this country and the general public, it really does
