John Tickle/Nush logic to why we have extreme personalities on BB5?

Nush mentioned in her 'NEW' column last week i think, that she and john tickle were having a conversation about the BB contestants this year and why most appear to be desperate wannabe's, and john believe's because this years audition were held like 'pop idol' auditions, then you're going to get 'pop idol' type contestants. Which makes sense actually. I don't suppose the more introverted types would be bold over by attending these brash auditions when in the previous years 'send in a tape' would have sufficed. Anyone else agree that this years change to interviewing potential housemates via a pop idol audition has made a huge change in the kind of people we see on our tv's? I think this was probably the plan from the BB bigwigs to get more overtly extrovert people on this years show in order to go to the extreme end of last years tepid reception. Though last years lot were slated for getting on and being qiuet (boring was probably too harsh a word!), i personally, have to say, i related a lot more to them than this year's pack of oddities!Anyone else have any ideas on this?

I thought we would get a real bunch of desperados but they have not been as bad as I feared, but I am not saying that this lot are a sparkling example of the UK population.

I agree with Tickles theory.

Nush has a lot of balls talking about these new housemates - at least Tickle was interesting. What did Nush do except laugh nervously and pretend she had a potential romance with dullard Scott? My dislike grows for her every time she opens her mouth (Shell may be a bit Nush-like, but give me Shell over Nush any day).

I do agree that they changed the auditions to be more like Pop Idol - but what do you expect? Last year was a disaster! They could barely fill the catchup shows. Near the end, they were showing Steph vacuuming and Cameron sittting outside sunbathing, FFS. The people these year may be fame wannabes, but at least they're interesting.

As far as the housemates being representative of the general UK population, they aren't and everyone knows it. But since when are reality show contestants ever representatives of normal society? It takes a special kind of person to put themselves out there to be judged by millions of people. I couldn't do it. IMO, this year is a stunt to compensate for last year's massive c***up. They won't be able to pull it off every year because people will get bored, but for this year, I certainly believe it works...

It's hard to believe that after watching Camerons and Gos' videos that they made it onto BB.Maybe that disuaded them from using videos again
