She is a citizen of a society that encourages free speech & expression. Therefore she has the right to make as complete a tit of herself in the public eye as she likes.
It`s her family that should change *their* cultural outlook to fit in with what is considered acceptable behaviour in the UK. If they can`t, then thats their loss. She`s better off without them.

Spot on, Ludovica. People often tailor what their good book says to suit their prejudices, not the other way around.

Why should they have to change their culture of religious beliefs?

Then why shouldn't people continue to hold racist ot sexist beliefs? Religious beliefs that sanctify inequality are plain wrong.

They should be bloody happy that they have such an open minded daughter who's obviously happy in herself.

Really, it can't be much loss to Becki, can it? I don't like her, but you're a long time dead. It's better for her to live the way she wants to than live a half-life hidebound to the emotional manipulation of people she deserves unconditional love from.

Indeed.. What was laid down as appropriate behaviour for women in , say, the 4th century might have had a lot to do with social conditions of that time, slavers, pirates and so on... To preserve things like that in the modern world is not only a ludicrous anachronism, it also infringes the freedom of individuals, which is against the law in a free society.. If Becki's family have received death threats etc, they ought to be on the blower to the police to protect their daughter

If the medieval cultural beliefs of becki`s parents forbid them to forgive her-& love her as any parent should in this country, then it`s the cultural beliefs that need changing.
They *all* now live here in the UK: Where we have certain rights & freedoms under the law. Becki obviously is a modern, liberated woman-who enjoys the freedom of expression & legal rights accorded women in our society. If her parents wern`t blinded by both their faith & cultural conditioning-they might be embarrassed by her behaviour, but they`d still love love their daughter-no matter how she behaved in public. Their response shows they`re incapable of assimilating into The UK culture.

The Mirror report says that the family have received death threats - Perhaps this is the reason for the extra security for her eviction. Poor Becki.

You'd think he'd have better things to do with his time that sit around condemning Big Brother contestants. Since Becki is obviously no longer a muslim herself, why should she have to behave like one?

her family can do whatever they deem fitting ... I truly believe it is between them and their god ..... if their god reckons treating their daughter like this is right, then they'll be first in line for front seats in the great mosque in the sky (oops sorry not her Mum who being female will sit separately)

however if they have made a bad choice in disowning their daughter ... let's hope they regret it when it may come back to bite them ......

Don't forget that this report comes from the Mirror. And we all know that's a bastian of truth and reliability, don't we? Tabloids never make things up or stretch the truth, do they?

True.. but in cases in which they are doing that they rarely use a specified quote from named members of the family

I'm sorry but you obviously have no understanding of Islam and Arabic/North African culture. Becki would have fully understood the repercussions of her actions in the house and I am sure she will not be surprised in the least if she is met by friends instead of family at tonight's eviction.

Rightly or wrongly she will be shunned by her family, but I do believe that over time they will mellow and will eventually accept her back, this can't have been the first time she ever did something that angered or shocked her parents.

Becki will know her parents better than anyone else and I am sure she will have prepared herself for their reaction and carefully weighed it against the benefits of publicity and exposure she will receive for being in the BB house.

I would guess she is gambling that the short lived fame of her brief stay in BB will be enough to kickstart her music career and if it upsets her family in the short term it is worth the risk....

Funny how people on this forum get in an uproar when you question transexuality and you get attacked for having an opposing viewpoint, yet 99% of people here are totally narrow-minded about Islam and their culture and moral values.

How hard is it to understand - Becki comes from a Muslim family, and she has gone on tv in front of millions and acted like a slut. Her family are ashamed of this, and disowned her...quite right too.

I think you are right.. on "Spank Night" she joked that her family would disown her... I'm not so confident that they will relent however. It was a poor gamble on her part though. I can't honestly see her making it in showbusiness after this, and to be brutally Cowell-esque, she's a crap singer, she is over thirty and not especially attractive or charismatic.. I have a feeling she will regret her BB experience, BIG TIME!

Why is someone narrow-minded because they happen to disagree with the tenets of a religion or disowning a family member because they don't conform?

Maybe the pope, or Nelson Mendela can step in to stand-up for Becki. I bet Nelson would be thrilled to. What a stupid family she must have if these story is true. I hope she stays tonight.

I find that a really sad thing to say, i hope that you have no children because being disowned by a parent is probably the most hurtful thing ever.

Well it has been reported that she was a lap-dancer and an escort girl, but I'm sure that it was all clean and above-board. She must have learned the proper way to spank men somewhere else

But why is she being referred to as a 'Muslim girl' at all, when she clearly doesn't follow that religion? My mum is a Catholic, but that doesn't make me one.

Because the anti-Muslim media do their best to tarnish the religion, and whenver anyone happens to be Muslim or from a muslim family, you always get the oppresive parents/terrorist/anti-women/violent etc slant on the story.
