He's supposed to have ME. That's what he said when she was at home with him, he mentioned that doctors "don't think it's real" or words to that effect.

Poor old Charlie must be due another break from the show.

Will he come back with a tan?

Always makes me smile in the soaps when they're not in it for a month and come back several shades darker than the rest of the cast.

Or seriously messed up and rather than seeking help to work through the various issues, keep them bottled up and mess with other peoples emotions.

That is precisely why I have zero sympathy for Ruth. She deserves to be on her own, that way the only person she hurts is herself.

Kirsty/Lucy is just super hot, she is soooo gorgeous! I really don't like her husband he still reminds me of Jase in EastEnders

What has Ruth done poor old Charlie.

Aww, I really like Ruth. She may come across as a bit harsh and not very people friendly, but I think its very clear that socially she is not a very confident person and very insecure. I'm hoping that they'll eventually get her and Jay back together as its obvious they still love each other and I think Jay is definatly the person to bring Ruth out of her shell

I'm liking the relationship between Kirsty and Adam at the moment too, but I'm not sure about them getting together because Adam's not long come out of a relationship and as a character he has been focused on a lot these past two years and I think its time for someone else to have a big storyline.

Loved last night's episode.

Ruth stabbing Charlie in the back - naughty naughty! Surely he has to retrun to ED - maybe when Nick returns?

Poor ruth... i knew when she was talking to henry that charlie was for it. Surely it doesn't matter how long he's known because she'd have never believed him anyway

Loved adam's car and the jay/polly argument where was talking about being ignored

Can I just clarify then?
Is that it? Has Jordan left - to go back to surgery?
If so...it was all very rushed!

She's a broken personality with at times, the emotional maturity of a angst-ridden teenager who is needy but has never been shown proper love.Don't forget her almost successful suicide attempt.
Can she be fixed?
Is Jay the one to do it?
Do the scriptwriters care?
Will she finally learn to truly connect with others just before dying in a freak accident?
Why do I watch this rubbish anyway?

I don't think anyone will forget her suicide attempt.

If she wants to be fixed, seeking help would be a start.

No not a job for Jay. Even Kirsty who's trained in that sort of area would struggle.

Freak accident or otherwise, I think the answer is no.

I can hear the music to Soap playing while reading this.

She could be fixed and Jay would be the one to do it. He just has to demonstrate again and again, and never tire of showing her and proving to her that he loves her; she has had such little real affection in her life and has been let down again and again.
And why do I watch it, too?

You should watch the episode after she attempted suicide, when we saw the lead up to it ..it kinda explains it all.

The ep is on youtube!

God you obviously have some sort of issue with Ruths character you are constantly slagging her off!

Not everyone likes her, which is fair enough. I do though, she's my favourite, obviously not the most likeable but I do enjoy watching her the most.

I like her too. It's not that he doesn't like her it's that he CONSTANTLY moans about her.

The issue is I think she's an irritating self centered, lack of sympathy, empathy, lacking self awareness of how her negative lack of people skills effects her patients and colleagues. That and I think shes a bit of a cow.

Damn me for continuing to express my views on her after each episode she appears in on a thread that was started to express views on the show and characters.

Does it bother you because you like her or because she reminds you of someone you may know?

We all have characters that annoy us. Some people can't bear Adam. I couldn't stand Alice. I don't like Ruth either but she's certainly a good character for getting people talking.

I think she wants to be viewed by everyone as perfect and it rankles that there are people who have seen a weaker side to her. That's why she ended up resenting Toby, who helped save her life, and the same reason she's trying to get rid of Charlie.

All the while getting little in return I wouldn't mind betting.

I've not watched it since she was first in it. Has she had a lot of strife in her love life? I know she made the blunder with Jordan (or he did with her depending on your view) but Jay is the only other one I've seen her involved with, and I still think - in real life! - a person like her wouldn't have got involved with him in the first place.

She's from a dysfunctional background : if I remember correctly, the father was an alcoholic and was never there for her.The suggestion is she has been damaged by her childhood and has never really come to terms with it.

She's definitely self obsessed for starters. Her biggest failing is that she always puts her own interests first ahead of everyone else's.

We see occasional glimpses of humanity from her but she very quickly reverts to type and becomes cold and unsympathetic again. She's a well written character though....dislikeable but believable.
