I like the idea of the channel scan also happening at 3am.
Otherwise when you are away and they shuffle all the transponders recordings tend to fail. Automan. |

No mention of sorting out the myriad UI niggles that make an otherwise superb piece of kit seem slightly amateurish and unfinished from time to time.
Soz Gaseous beat me to it. |

"No mention of sorting out the myriad UI niggles that make an otherwise superb piece of kit seem slightly amateurish and unfinished from time to time."
Well said, Mr Jepson, sir - I'm glad it's not just me! I was interested in the beta test, nonetheless, a chance to help with feedback. Then I read the disclaimers on the humax beta site. You have to be kidding me! They accept no responsibility whatsover if the upgrade damages: "SHOULD THE PROGRAM PROVE DEFECTIVE, YOU ASSUME THE COST OF ALL NECESSARY SERVICING, REPAIR OR CORRECTION" They want feedback to help sort out some things that a lot of manufacturers would have considered vital mods in the first few months of a product's life, and you take the hit if it screws up your box? I can't decide if this is an early April Fool's joke, or an entry for this year's Dixons Customer Service Awards. |

I purchased four of these unit's mainly due to Humax's good reputation and quality of service and support! after all you get what you pay for right? WRONG!
I will not be putting any more of my in their pockets, no updates for over a year. Their is several issues that should of been put right a long time ago! |

I cant understand how it takes so long for the firmware to come out, its only for 1 configuration. Its not like they have to test it on PCs with millions of different hardware combos to check.
Then again, judging by how awkward the box is to use, I dont think it got much non engineer testing at all. I could tell them a double figure amount of improvements that should be made to the box to make the user experience more enjoyable. |

Not even an FTP server... it's not exactly rocket science, as the unofficial ones have proved.

What is so infuriating is that a lot of the UI niggles would be trivial to sort out - and, indeed, should have been sorted out in the first big upgrade. Allowing the progress bar to inhibit other functions is an inexcusably incompetent piece of programming. And missing out the 8x FF/FR is just bizarre. Both of these would be incredibly easy to sort out but Humax just can't be bothered. And, I note that bob_cat is always conspicuous by his absence when these matters are discussed. |

I know that a forum is not necessarily representative of the wider user community, but there does seem some agreement on a lot of these niggles. It's baffling how Humax clearly went that extra mile to create the device, yet are content to take "What the hell, they're selling" attitude to mods and to customer perception.
I would use the word 'awkward' about some aspects. Things like losing sound and picture when you press Guide (until you discover that getting there via Schedule 'cures' this!). Having 2 or 3 seconds to key in channel numbers is another, also the way some menus respond to End, some to Back, and some to both. The list goes on - these are not nice-to-have extras, they degrade the user experience, to lapse into corpspeak. And neither amateurish or inexcusable are strong enough words to describe the daftness that happens with red button, iPlayer, and the black hole inbetween. What's so galling is that, just like the box overall, the bits that are good are great! |

I have emailed support again re the new loader 7.54 that support said 16 days ago "was in the process of being put up on the website" I told them it must be a very long process and asked when it would be there. Waiting for a reply !

Trouble is when everything is tested in house, things become illogical because replicate how new owners would expect things to happen. eg I get annoyed every time it asked me if I want to record an SD version of a program, all it would take is this to pop up: Record SD Always record SD Record HD Always record HD and that annoyance would be forever ended. Id also love for an option not to have the progress bar come up unless called for. |

Agreed.
The total lack of any updates is the worst aspect of all this. Humax developers have obviously been told to focus on new products. It feels as though Freesat adopters have been left in the cold whilst Freeview gets all the attention. I previously had a Humax 9200T, and whilst that became unusable until firmware .23 was released, I was encouraged by the number of updates I received during its lifetime - .23 was released 5 years after I bought the unit. Whilst the Foxsat HDR is a far superior product to the 9200, with far fewer issues at launch, I'm starting to lose faith in Humax! |

Someone thinks something is happening
A quote from someone called Barry on another forum that we are not allowed to reference here. " Beta Version 1.00.15 will be released shortly via the Humax Beta download site - probably tomorrow (link to follow once live) Release notes as follows: • Dolby Digital downmix included • Time recovered in standby after a power failure • Resolved recording issues if left on a part-time channel • Channel scan for channels added/removed/changed at 3am • Postcode Table updated automaitcally (over air) • MHEG improvements (BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, Teletext Jobsite support) Primarily the Beta is being released for further testing, and user feeedback of ITV Player. There will be a link to a spreadsheet whereby users can report their experiences (link to follow once live) Reminder for those not in the know: ITV Player can be accessed by selecting channel 999, wait for the freesat splash screen to load then press Green, Green, Blue, Green, Green. Once ITV Player splash screen loads press Red. " p.s. Where is the recording from buffer? |

It's just become available now... who will be the brave one to try it first and report back?

![]() Not had the time to check the power cut situation yet though. ![]() Are you able to reinstall that without any problem? If it's a choice between keeping ftp access or getting the power cut issue fixed I think I'll keep the ftp!

Have you tried ITV player Graham? Seems humax have some possible concerns
https://spreadsheets.google.com/a/hu...&ndplr=1#gid=0 . So sorry can't say either if Raydon's ftp mod is affected. Raydon is a member of My Humax Forum so perhaps best to post there.

The humax updated fine. The FTP server and the humax being on the network has been lost of course. Anyone tried to update the new firmware file with the FTP server? I think it may have to be rewritten for this new firmware. It might also need to be rewritten again if humax decide to add any extras to the official update. No buffer record on this new firmware.
