You are guessing.
Its been about 8 months.

That would be 1225 man hours per employee at a minimum work week of 35 hours, no guessing needed.

How many employees? How much of their time allocated? You are guessing.

1225 man hours per employee have been available for them for fix it. Since they dont have 1 employee, thousands of man hours is correct.

They choose not to devote those man hours to fixing it, thats their fault.

If my experience of far eastern developers is anything to go by then you'll get about 10 man minutes of software development per developer per week. The rest is taken up with meetings to discuss what needs to be done, meetings to discuss who might be able to do it, meetings about when the work should be done, meetings about how it should be done, meetings about whether all those decisions were correct, endless rounds of email reiterating all the above to ensure nothing has been lost in translation, and finally meetings to discuss why it wasn't done correctly so we have to start the whole process again.
But I'm not bitter I can totally understand why I was made redundant and my duties handed over to half a dozen low paid far eastern workers.

You forgot to mention :
- endless cycles of recruitment and training due to 30%+ annual churn
- change control and process overkill dressed up as "industry best pratice" but actually only needed because you don't trust the individuals involved.

Look what apple do, it turns users into mindless zombies who have to have the latest iThing no matter what.
I knew I shouldn't have bought that iPad. Now, where did I leave that pint of blood.

Anyone any info as to when this gets a proper release? How stable are people finding the beta? Any downside to installing it / known bugs?

Thanks, I'll hold off on the beta if it's that close.

I've been running it since 18 March with no problems at all. I've tested the power fail functionality and that works correctly. Another bonus is that channel re-tunes now occur during the overnight housekeeping session, so no more delays when coming out of standby during the day. I've not tested it with ITV Player or BBC iPlayer, though.

Personally I've found it very stable - only had the box for a couple of weeks prior to putting on the beta firmware a couple of days after release, but have encountered no stability issues or anything else that makes me want to roll back to the last official release.

Thanks for the info Geoff (and the others who responded). Sounds like it's pretty good and stable. And if it means not doing channel scans and the peace of mind of the time being correct in the event of a power failure then I guess I'll give it a go.

EDIT: if I do discover problems (seems unlikely) then presumably the HDR allows you to downgrade the firmware?

No problem, just keep a copy of V1.00.13 from the Humax normal website

Failing that I have a version downloaded in January but I am unsure of what it is ... just deleted to avoid temptation ... but someone else is bound to have a known good copy of the x.13 firmware.

Another user without any issues whilst running the latest firmware beta 1.00.15. ITV player and BBC iplayer both working and no annoying scan for new channels/changes, just when you've sat down to watch something.

Wish I could try it, Ive tried 3 usb drives and none of them work, even though I can see the light flickering.

Looks like its OTA only for me.

A quick question: does updating to the .15 beta software on the Humax HDR wipe out your recording schedule? (can't remember from the last time I did it...)
