Shock, Horror a message popped up on mine early this morning "Would you like to search for NEW SOFTWARE? My instant reaction was it can't possibly the update on New Year's Day, surely? I accepted the prompt ...............and ....................... it wasn't! I assume it was doing the housekeeping. Normally never have it on at 03:05 UK time
Has anyone else seen this message before?

Yes, it was just the housekeeping

You'll see that message any night at 3am ish if you happen to have the box on at that time.

Night owl here

So most people won't see the question "Would you like to search for new software?" and therefore won't answer yes. Does the box default to yes and search anyway? I assume it does, otherwise people wouldn't get overnight software upgrades.

Indeed it does (default to "yes")

I get the HDMI handshaking issue on my Panasonic 2010 series Freesat HD/Freeview HD TV - if TVs from two different manufacturers have the same problem, I'm pretty sure it's a good indicator that either it's a commonly misunderstood part of the standard (which therefore must be worked around), or that Humax is wrong.

As Panasonic are one of the organisations which help to develop and police the HDMI standard it seems very unlikely that they would not follow the specification to the letter!

Possibly a different interpretation of the standard maybe caused by the translation between English / Japanese / Korean?

One look at the Wikipedia HDMI article sheds some light on why there might be confusion.

Beta site has a new upload for the FOXSAT HDR. It is labelled as v1.00.12 which is confusing because the current software is v1.00.13?

Am I missing something here??????????

Have just downloaded it from the beta site - the file size is 8.33 Mb as apposed to the latest official firmware (v1.00.13) which is 7.66 Mb. So it is quite considerably larger.

Anyone brave enough to install it? I'm sure one of you guys that have been brave enough to install the hacked firmware with FTP/Telnet activated are itching to give it a go?

http://www.4shared.com/file/sldzJd32...ade_U7_53.html

if I remember correctly you need to rename this file as you do for the firmware i.e. FOXSAT-HDR_upgrade.hdf

edit: just reread your post obviously you have

Yes, renamed the loader it succesfully loads, power off at the back remove usb, power back on still showing factory loader. Thanks guys, but the upgrade to FTP before might have something to do with it I wonder, anyway looks like a doorstop for now

I too have done this and yes I have also successfully reloaded the original loader and firmware. Still showing "Factory loader". Have I now got an expensive brick. Anyone from Humax out there?

Was your last version 1.00.13 or have you also gone from the FTP version?

What does the display show? BOOT?
When you attempted to reload 7.53 did the display show END?
