What does the display show? BOOT?
When you attempted to reload 7.53 did the display show END?
Yes it did.

Display shows boot, it does say end when you load the new loader and my version was the FTP but that doesn't seem to be the cause of the problem now

I too have done this and yes I have also successfully reloaded the original loader and firmware. Still showing "Factory loader". Have I now got an expensive brick. Anyone from Humax out there?
I'm glad I didn't risk it now! Sorry guys I feel a little responsible as I made you aware of it

It may be worth a PM to Bob_Cat directly to make him aware of the problems so it can be removed from the Beta site. He may also be able to offer some help or advice.

I reckon that the fact that the box still powers up and can perform the re-programming of firmware from the USB port means there is a fairly good chance it can be recovered. I wonder if Humax support may have some "special" firmware available which wipes corrupt main and boot loader firmware and then reprograms it with just a very simple re-programmer so that the proper boot loader and main firmware can then be re-programmed as per normal. Finger crossed for you guys.

Hellppp...

I may have got a little bit further, so lucky I guess. Somehow I have managed to load the software.
It looked liked it was bricked.....until I thought about a scart plug. I plugged in a scart plug went to AV1 and then I got the image and sound ok! Although I cannot get HDMI. All I get using HDMI cable is the green screen of death most weird... although sound does seem to stutter on for a few seconds.
With HDMI on my LG tv I am sometimes getting the HDMI images for a few seconds if I turn off the box and restart 20 seconds later.

So at the very miinimum It seems that there is a sound problem linked to hdmi issue somewhere?
Doesn't bode well considering it is set to go live in a couple of weeks..

I have had no luck yet in getting the old firmware back!!! I and I want my HD back!! How can I get the set back to how it was!! At least I have an image and sound using the scart though - hopefully I will only have to wait at the worst until the offical download? What a mess, just spent 2 hours on it. My own stupid fault, although you would expect at this stage for there NOT to be show stoppers like that in the download.

I think the bootloader was included in the beta version hence the bigger file, a bit naff we can't recover the box. But that beta version most certainly wants removing else there could be hundreds in the same situation

The loader is probably included with the software in order to fix the 'powercut' bug.

Hopefully when Humax release the final build of this firmware it'll load up on the currently bricked boxes fine.

I had the impression that loaders are never sent OTA.
One thought (longshot) leave the bricked boxes in standby tonight - It may see the the current live version as a later version.

Are you saying your box is fine apart from no aduio and video using HDMI?

If you go to the system menu what id's are listed for the boot loader, main software etc.

Really odd, yes the system is fine apart from that.

It's also really weird though I have the factory v7.50 Loader, perhaps it makes sense to you?

System ID 3768.0000

Update........ 26 Nov 2009 !!

Software version 1.0.0.12 !!

I have just wiped that and managed to put 1.0.0.13 back on.
There is still the sound/video problems though. very strange - it seems like that piece of beta is old? Or at least has an older version number, or perhaps a system date is wrong somewhere? By the way I have done all that from the front panel usb.

Partial good news!! After having seemingly loaded v1.00.13 successfully, but still getting the 'factory loader' screen I loaded the 'suspect' firmware again. It programmed itself in the usual way and then rebooted itself and then it rebooted itself twice more before displaying the channel search screen! I did the channel search and the box started working but with the green screen on HDMI. The diagnostics show the loader as 7.50 and the firmware as 1.00.12 with a date of Nov. 2009. The software update screen says that v1.00.13 is available but won't install it. Tried to reload loader v7.53 but it won't have it. At least it isn't completely bricked and it is possibly the 'factory loader' that is causing the problems.

I beleive the earliset boot loader that made it to the geneal public was v7.51. How many cables do you have connected as I seem to remember v7.51 of the loader (and assuming v7.50 has the same issue) would not update the firmware if it was in single cable mode.

I've two cables connected and have managed to get v1.00.13 firmware loaded. Still no HDMI though.

Not only no HDMI, but it seems there are problems with some HD recordings. Some are "encrypted" when I try to play them..

Also just reread the warnings on the Humax site..

"Humax will however aim not to release any software here that has not been functionally tested internally first and as such should present a limited risk to owners of products".

Let's hope that turns out to be true! :

If they are existing recordings then it sounds like the encryption key in your unit has been reset.

Just an update. Having moved the box, necessitating a rear panel switch-off, the box powers up for a few seconds (displaying BOOT) and then shuts down. Another power-up and it works OK. This is repeatable. I'm getting HDMI audio and video for a few minutes before the green screen appears.

That's a lot longer than I'm getting, I wonder if it depends on the make of TV? I only get about 4/5 seconds of HDMI video and audio, doing the same!

Hope on Monday that Humax sort it out.

Interesting - Have you tried repeating this and on the second power up trying to flash the current loader?
Second thought - try also using 7.52 to see if that is any different.

Just tried that - no change. I don't have a copy of 7.52.

I think if anyone has it (or ask Humax support) that this may be a good one to try (Loader U7.52 + Application HPRSFCI 1.00.11) - it's in one file - then go to the latest version.
