Just 3 artists (all female) make up the Top 5 albums in the midweeks.

So here we are in August. It would not surprise me at all if xl does not release another official video for this album, ever. Think about it, she can sing SLY on the vmas, and if all goes well, it will go viral and sell a million copies and get 20 million views on youtube. They will play the two versions of SLY (just like in the UK) for months, into the holiday season. SFTTR will float along like in the UK, underdeveloped, but the album is selling so well so no problem. Maybe she performs it at the American Music Awards. Another bump. Hopefully it catches fire on radio format.
The holidays will bleed into the Grammys where there will be another performance. Repeat formula above. Promo xl style! |

LOL. They wouldn't be able to get away with this lack of expenditure with any other artist currently on the scene, could they? I would love to see their company accounts relating to 2011 when they are published. I bet they make for an eye watering read....
PS Anyone know what sort of deal she is signed up to? I mean, how many albums? |

I'm guessing details of that contract will never get out unless there is a lawsuit of some sort. As much as we throw xl under the bus, you know Adele has final say in the direction she is heading. And although she has a great work ethic, she will never be called a publicity whore. Less is more may have been tossed at her by management, but she ran with it.
That's why we like her so much compared with the other girls out there. So instead we look forward to her concert footage. Speaking of which...actually I'm not speaking of her upcoming tour, I will not jinx that! Fingers crossed. |

Point taken, I'm sure Adele is very much involved in the strategy (I hope she can stop them from doing a re-release of '21' as well!).
VMA news: Fellow nominee Tyler, The Creator when asked about the 'competition': “If I lose to any of those wackass videos, I’m gonna be mad because they all suck — except for Adele’s.” ![]() http://thisgoesin.com/interview-tyle...ause-they-suck |

Article on women ruling pop. It echos sentiments above regarding steering their own ship.

Getting a lot of feedback from stans out there determined to pit Adele vs. Gaga. Hasn't this gotten old yet? And how has Katy Perry missed out on all this fun?
If Gaga is as smart a business woman as she appears at first glance, she should be putting out fires right about now. Obviously she missed her chance when all her stans started attacking Adele on looks (even though anti-bullying is the foundation of her cult), but now there are rumours being spread that Gaga called Adele fat in an interview. With more than half the world's population overweight (sorry, I exaggerate. I hope!) that is going to be pissing off a lot of people. Guess it must suck to be an overweight Gaga fan right about now, imo. Btw- unless she was having a coke moment, Gaga is too smart to bully someone after she reinvented herself as Mother Monster, champion of the unpopular. |

I wonder why the increase, besides continued word of mouth? No promo out here in the states that I recall. |

I also believe her US sales have now overtaken her UK sales.

The tour picks up again next week. You're going if I recall correctly? Not that I'm saying that's a possible reason for the increase lol. SFTTR is pretty high on US iTunes (#40), and SLY is #42, so maybe it is just word of mouth.
I'm thinking 21 is now like a snowball. It has incredible momentum. Can't wait to see what happens when she gets a shot again at primetime tv. |

No idea if Gaga called Adele fat but have read accusations on the 'net. I can't imagine it TBH, she's far too smart for that (I hope). She must be getting fed up, though. This last week she's promo'd on SYTYCD, Kimmel Live and The View - and still sold 60k less than Adele in the US! |

Not by much, surely? I'd say 100k difference personally.
Yes, by a small margin but she's almost doubling what she's selling right now weekly in the UK in the US so this gap is only going to get bigger. And with the VMAs coming up.... |

Wonder if 21 has reached ten million shipped yet? Are you still guessing 13 million by years end Konebyvax?
I'm in at 11.5 million. But with a few perfect live sessions on primetime, 13 million may be closer after all! |

8.2 million I believe mediatraffic said last week,
What's diamond in the states? 10 million? That should be the ultimate goal. Not too many albums have made it. |

Isn't mediatraffic sold copies, not shipped? Semantics I know, but it's funny to play on, and ten million sounds freaking awesome.
