Fred will be one of the Skaters on the US equivalent of DOI Skating With The Stars which starts in the US on 22nd November. He has been paired with a US Soap Star Rebecca Budig - you can see Fred briefly in the preview clip from the website.

There isn't any info on Fred or any of the other Pros on the website - something copied from ITV Someone has posted the list in the message board. There are no big names there but they supposedly have the likes of Johnny Weir, Evan Lysacek, Kristi Yamaguchi and Brian Boitano as guest judges.

Don't know if it will be shown here (Dancing With The Stars is shown on Watch) but if not I am sure it will be available online somewhere.

That's interesting. Kristina came over to Canada to do Battle of the Blades last year, but she is not back this year (They got some big names for that one). It's a bit weird that he's on this show as aren't Dancing on Ice and Strictly competitors? (Isn't this show by the same company has Strictly) Were there any pros that did both "Dancing on Ice" and "Strictly Ice Dancing"? Then Again certain contestants from "So You think you can dance" appear on "Strictly".

So I guess that takes him out of the running for next year's DOI.

Yes he definitely won't be back for DOI as they are starting training for that imminently. I think the Pro contracts are only for one series at a time on these things anyway.

I hope this show does get broadcast in the UK, I'd like to see it. Suppose I might hunt for it online if I can be bothered.

well i think fred will do the uk version too - its only six celebrities and they will get knocked out quick enough. ours doesn't start until middle of January - plenty of time for him to do both. its unlikely this will take off in teh US anyway - they tried already. :yawn:

Gutted that Fred won't be in this year's version, but I suppose that's what they get for giving him rubbish partners for series on end

Move over Fred and Mel and bring on Alex and Lucas! I'm hoping Lucas becomes a DOI professional this series. I know he's done work behind the scenes and the tour before but I want to see him as a permanent professional on the TV show

There is a new video on the website with interviews of all the couples. Fred seems quite impressed by his partner Rebecca. She did some skating as a child and it seems some of the others did too.

Apparently the US version only lasts for 6 weeks!

Therefore it won't clash with DOI at all.

Yes but all the pros are training already with their partners so he won't be doing it unfortunately.

I imagine that it is a pilot series which is why it's a short one with just 6 couples. If it's successful they will probably have a longer series next year - maybe Mel will be in that one too.

Mel is in LA now - I wonder if they will skate together on the show in any pro routines.

Watching this live now - it's weird. The judges are too nice - sucking up to Sean Young about being an amazing actress? What's that got to do with the routine she just skated? - and I don't think Vernon was the right choice for host. Nice little intro pieces for each celeb and their skater, though.

I enjoyed the show and Vernon Kay was not as annoying as I thought he would be.

Thanks for posting those Christian. Fred & Rebecca were fantastic - so chuffed for him that he has a great partner. I really enjoyed watching Brandon & Jonny too. Jonny looked so fast over the ice.

Judges & Tanith's commentary were a bit bland for me but it was their 1st week so maybe they'll get better over the next few weeks.

Vernon is horrid on this. Bug-eyed and frantic.

I know they had no prayer of getting anyone as good as Tom Bergeron, but... they could have tried a BIT harder.

The sucking up to Sean Young was disgusting. She's the very definition of a has-been, and crazy as a loon to boot.

Fred & Rebecca were top of the leaderboard again this week. So pleased he's doing well as he never really got a top notch partner on DOI.

I think in SWTS you can see Fred's experience in working with novice skaters, which he gained on DOI. He really knows how to choreograph for his celeb partner and how to bring out the best in her as a skater.
