Apps for iPod Touch

Hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone can tell me if it is possible to download apps for the iPod touch from the iTunes store?

There is no app store icon on the iPod touch itself and when I search iTunes the app I am searching for doesn't come up.

Anyone able to help?

There should be an App Store icon - have you tried updating the software (both iTunes on the computer and the firmware)?

If you go into the iTunes store on your computer via iTunes (not the iTunes icon on the device itself). There is a menu along the top of the store one section is marked App Store.

What happens when you download an app from iTunes on your computer - does it sync across to the iPod touch? Also when you click on your iPod in iTunes, do you have a page (tab along the top) for Apps (along, with Summary, Music, PodCasts, Photos etc.)?

edit: it might be worth backing everything up and doing a Restore. What software version is shown on the summary page?

Ah. I assume this is an old iPod Touch. You need to buy iOS 3.1 a paid for upgrade I'm afraid (£2.99) - the first generation Touch doesn't support iOS 4.
