Bought new phone online from ORANGE and had to buy £10 top up as part of the deal. We got the phone monday, no top up credited. Phoned them and they said 24-48hrs (bollocks). Today, still no here. Phoned again. They said they will need to escalate it and it will take up to another 3 days. Told them this was beyond a joke.

Their explanation is that folk in the past have phoned up claiming to have bought a new phone from them and tried to con them out of a top up.

FFS, its on my invoice and THEY sent me the damn phone which I PAID for. They said they will credit the phone with 15 free text messages for the inconvenience <<<< woooo big deal.

Now received a text from Orange to say they are looking at the top up and will be with FIVE days.

Jezzzzus what a joke of a bloomin operator.

ps. We like the phone though, just a pity we cant use the thing.

Calm down. Issues arise and theyre working on it. Considering the amount of customers they have you cant expect issues to be resolved instantly.

You have to expect these kind of things when you don't choose the giffgaff option.

Orange are pants and they treat their customers like dirt!

I was a customer for over 10 years and was never offered any promotion or special offers and when I phoned them to cancel my contract they asked why I was swapping to O2 and I told them they were offering me a better and more flexible contract they just ok...and hung up on me!

Good riddence to Orange! BTW O2 are so customer friendly, not only do they now have my mobile business but my home phone and broadband also!

Completely agree with the original poster. Orange really are a bunch of cowboys. Better being done with them and moving to a more professional network.

Every network has an equal amount of unhappy customers...they also have a huge number of happy customers, hence why they stay in business. Its impossible to be 100% happy with a company.

I've personally never had any problems with Orange.
Always had very good customer service and they're always helpful.

Same here, and when things have gone wrong they have been resolved quickly.

Wait until your SIM card fails. I had so much trouble I left and went to ASDA mobile.

I keep getting text messages from Orange. You'd think having ported my number across to another operator they'd remove it from their database. To me it's just another example of how rubbish they are.

Are you on pay as you go, if a sim card fails you just call them , they send you another one simple.

I love people who say a company is crap without explaining why.

If I have had a problem with Orange I just keep cool , don't loose my temper, and its quickly resolved , shouting and screaming wont get you anywhere.

What call centre did you get ? if you went into your local Orange shop they should have sorted it in there. The top up card you got with the card should mean you can put a top up on it in the mean time, even 5 pounds then you can at least use the phone then.

Same thing happened with me, I got the Orange SF phone and paid the obliglatory £10 topup which took about 5 days to be applied to my PAYG account.

Now the cynic in me thinks this happens so that you get your new phone and want to use it straightaway so you will have to top up again unless using existing sim/account.

I unlocked my phone (easy and dirt cheap with the SanFransico) and now using Tescon £10 month SIM only deal and am porting Orange number over to Tesco. Sweet.

The topups are delayed by 7 days due to the fact you have a 7 day cooling off period. Once that elapses, you get the credit.

Reason being is once credit is redeemed onto an account it is non-refundable.

Hope that helps.

I personally think all networks are bad in certain respects. I certainly wouldn't have chosen the network I'm on however due to it being the only network that works at home and at work I have no choice.

Vodafone are diabolical!!!

I agree with this I have been with all bar one of the major networks over the years, and they have all let me down to some extent. But they deal with many, many thousands of customers, so I accept that mistakes happen.

I think Three customer service were the worst, but even they managed to resolve the problem eventually.

Orange took several weeks to resolve a simple top up issue for me.
Vodafone are diabolical!!!
That' s my "bar one"!

I need to take some of the above back. Tried to update the FW on wife's phone and it bricked it. Orange sending a replacement out tomorrow. Thats a quick turnaround. Had hoped an orange shop might exchange it there and then but they say they dont take anything to do with tele sales (which is fair enough) and they let me use their phone.

Wife now barred me from going anywhere near her phone.

It was a Nokia and I connected to Ovi suite (as it suggests) and it told me there was a software update for the phone. Went through the process and it died.

wont even attempt to update this replacement.

I've been with Orange for over 12 years, and never had any problems. And better than that, i recently upgraded my phone, on contract. I wanted to go for the Xperia X10 Black, but it was going to cost me £149.95 at the special upgrade price. Phoned them up, spoke to a really helpful Geordie girl, who managed to get me the phone for FREE. Even better, apparently I had itemised billing on my contract, which was costing me £1.50 a month, she asked if I wanted it removed.
It works. I'll stay with them for longer now.
So, now I'm paying £1.50 a month less, AND I got a £150 discount on my new phone.

Nice.

Wonder if the mods will let me change the title of this thread. I feel bad now. I'll ask.

EDIT: Hey, thanks mods, that was quick.

I had always been with Orange, then swapped to O2 for the first iPhone. I couldnt stand O2, drove me insane!

I was ecstatic when the iPhone 3GS was available on Orange so i jumped back to them and have never had any problems, my mother and brother also both on Orange with no problems. My other brother and sister-in-law on O2 and had many problems after just a few weeks.

To make me even happier i got a text off Orange this morning saying ive won a Magic 8 Ball for topping up! Haha!

All of them are big companies so any of them aren't going to have perfect records. I wouldn't mind going with any network as coverage seems pretty similar and prices aren't too different. I have just had more good experiences with O2 and T-Mobile so those are the two networks I stick with.

Our replacement Orange phone came today and the cool thing is that this one already has the updated FW, so no need for me to break it again.
