Dress of used ties
MrsSpoon

Why on earth did that woman spend £300 on that hideous mashed up job of a so called dress made of ties which had previously been worn around sweaty necks?
I reckon she either had money to burn or she did it for the cameras.
I'll bet she never wore it out in public.

I reminded me of that Harry Enfield sketch "I saw you coming"

A big purchase just before closing time. All the signs of manipulation by the production company - just like the hire car task in a previous series.

I could believe that too.

Although it didn't affect the final outcome as they lost anyway, it would still have been fraudulent and with the problems the BBC have had in the past I don't think it was worth them taking that risk of setting it up deliberately.

What could have happened is that the woman showed an interest but wasn't sure and they may have told her she could return it to them within a certain time if she wasn't entirely happy with the purchase as happens in most shops.

Also we don't know for certain that it actually happened just before closing time as they do sometimes show things out of sequence for dramatic effect (although not if it involves the Queen).

Good points there vidalia.
Makes me wonder too if there was any pressure on her ie. the camera's are watching you and a nasty comment might be passed about you and broadcast if you decide not to buy.

Not as nasty as if you actually wore it out in public

Much as I hate to admit it, I was on The Brand's side when it came to that clothing range - although I didn't think the tie dress was quite as bad as the dress made of cuffs, that was seriously horrible.

But she might be asked to wear it on a tv show of for a newspaper shoot.

OMG I didn't even realise the cuff/sleeve thing was supposed to be a dress. It looked was hideous.
That was worse I agree.
The dress made of ties may have appealed more had there not been folded bits of ties around the top half imo.

We have a charity shop nearby which gets local fashion students to reuse donated clothes and make them into new things which are far more stylish, wearable and infinitely more affordable.

I totally applaud upcycling but that particular dress was unadulterated cr@p. And everyone knows Mancunians haven't the sophistication for that kind of conceptual dressing....;o)

How dare you! I've always been sophisticated enough to dress myself as unadulterated cr*p. I consider myself a forerunner in the field - I taught Jordan everything she knows...

I quite liked it. At least it was a bit different. They were clearly loaded, she bought rake-loads of stuff. She just wanted to have the apprentice tie dress.

It reminded me a bit of those adverts a few years ago where they had top models wearing dresses made out of carpets which were designed by people like Vivienne Westwood. They weren't for sale though. And were nicer.

Now I'm to high fashion what Wayne Rooney is to fidelity but to my eyes it would have been a more attractive buy if it wasn't so beige.

I really liked it. Lovely 'cut' when worn, quirky yet subtle, and slightly regal-looking with the 'train'.
