I love my border collie!

Just had to say how much I love my border collie, Mollie! She is so intelligent, sweet and funny. The funniest things she does are to deliberately 'lose' her tennis ball under a cupboard or chest of drawers so us owners have to drag it out again for her, steal socks, and try to bite the water spraying from the garden hose.

Anyone else love collies?

I loved our collie Rambo.
She used to chew the crotch out of my underpants !!
Thankfully, I wasn't wearing them at the time !

I like them too but don't have a dog, I went away for the weekend and my girlfriend stops and talks to every bloody animal she sees - one was a gorgeous collie called Sasha and she had one blue eye and one brown one!

So inteligent. Where we stay on a farm there is a really friendly one. I am sure she remembers us from last visits. She walks with me up the lanes (no lead) and when I turn around and walk back, she does too. No running off.

One day I decided to race her and ran as fast as I could. There was me, flat out and her trotting alongside with a grin as if to say "go on then!"

My lovely Uncle has always been a country boy and had collies, they're so so clever. His old collie Ruth was his right hand, his worker, stuck by him and bared her teeth at anyone who came near his Land Rover! I was an annoying 6 year old who pulled her tail when she met me so she always hated me! She was a gorgeous dog though. Now they have Fly and her daughter Meg who are as daft as a brush, more "family pets" but again, so so clever and gorgeous

love 'em.

our jake is daft as a brush, obsessed with the budgie
he'll just sit and stare at the cage and cry for us to let louie out
then when he's out, jake will follow him around the room

they've recently started playing together too - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2d5rONCQrSc
video there of them together

I think the intelligence trait was lost on our jake, but never mind, eh

I fell in love with one the other day. I was at the vets for my cats annual injections when a fireman came in with his two fire rescue dogs. One was a young border collie that was still in training. He kept being told to sit down, but kept getting excited at the people in the waiting room. One minute he was lying on the floor, the next, he had shimmied across to me and put his head on my lap and just wanted cuddles. He was absolutely adorable.

Class dogs. Mine is one of working stock & therefore comes with a less than fully domesticated nature. Just loves rounding things up , treats other dogs with total contempt , especially male ones , has the measure of many a family member who she senses fear in. Is one of lifes grumblers , but somehow lets my 3 year old daughter run her ragged playing with toys which given that the dog has never been surrounded with a boisterous toddler before , she does exceedingly well for a 12 year old.

OMG xdow - my collie is also a Jake - just played him the video () and I now have a massive dog snot mark on my laptop screen where he had his face pressed up to watch!!!

Jake is my second border collie - a recent rescue so we are still learning loads about each other. I have to say I love the breed, am starting him in agility and he is LOVING it, particularly standing on the top of the A-frame so everyone can admire him!!

Wouldn't have any other breed now!

Aah they are the most beautiful dogs ever. My baby had to be put to sleep last year aged 15, and I still think about him and miss him every day.
He was the cleverest dog I've known, brilliant with kids despite not being brought up around them, really loved people, and had a full time job until he was 13 years old.
We used to let him out in the morning and he'd take himself there. When I heard the close-down siren in the afternoon I'd knew he'd be at the front door within 5 minutes! He also knew more people and had more friends than us - I'd be at the end of our lane locking the gate on the way out and people driving/riding past would stop and ask "is that Bob in the car? I've known him since ..... . He used to play with my horse when she was a foal etc etc"!!!

Just left with my 5yr old rottweiler now - even more loyal than a collie but rubbish for cuddles.

My favourite breed of dog, can't have a dog now cos we both work but first and only dog when I was a kid was a brown and white collie cross. Loyal and well-behaved, I loved her to bits, she had to be pts at 13 while I was at Uni
Whenever there was a row at home and anybody shouted at me she would hop up and keep barking til they shut up
One snowy morning my Dad let her and my cat out before he went to work and when we opened the back door the sworn enemies were both huddled together on the doorstep- a truce was declared due to exceptional weather circumstances
When I left home she still slept on my bed every night, as soon as my Mum started locking up she'd wait at the door to be let in. I still miss that dog

We have a Border Collie/Greyhound cross called Lilian, she`s a fab dog, she spends all day with me, I walk her, feed her and she`s always by my side, only problem is she ADORES my hubby... She has a little window where she can see down our drive and her whole day is spent checking the window with a huge amount of sighing if there`s no sign of his van...

Ours always loves the latest arrival at the house, whichever family member it happens to be. She often howls with pleasure.
