I've noticed this of late, that a lot of people really don't like him and criticise his music. For instance, there were numerous comments on a ticket website that said such things as 'the wrong beatle got shot' and 'i wouldn't go if the tickets were free', which I think are a bit trollish myself, but never mind.

As a big fan of McCartney myself, what do you think of him?

I did'nt realise they did.

People troll everywhere on line so it does'nt suprise me.

I'm not a big fan of his music although the Beatles stuff is amazing and I did like some of the 70s/80s stuff as well.

I suppose when your that famous, wealthy and talented, its just too much for some people to bear. Sad.

It's fine not to like someone, I'm talking about irrational hatred , for instance I don't like the Noel and Liam Gallagher or Andy Patridge, but I wouldn't wish them any ills.

Oh I remember now, I was playing chess with him on a frozen lake and he said I was boring, and then he took off his energy mask he was Cameron Diaz.

People may not get this.

I don't think there's a single musician out there that doesn't have people that don't like them, which will always include a small minority of people that have an irrational hatred of them. It's just human nature!

Very true, and it appears at times as though 90% of all comments on web sites/forums are trolls of one type or other.

'Mull of Kintyre' & 'The Frog Chorus' to name but 2 reasons.

I actually don't 'Hate' anyone, but i haven't been impressed with anything he's written that didn't have 'Lennon &' in front of it.

The man is a musical genius.
If you dont follow his musical history, you will never know why he is so good.
No one is forced to listen to him.

Individually both were good, but together they were absolutely incredible.

The stuff he did with Wings was brilliant! Mull of Kintyre aside...

Maybe the Linda McCartney hatred transferred to him when she died? Nobody seemed to have a good word to say about her.

I know a lot of Liverpudlians dislike him too. But they tend to hate anyone who makes it big, doesn't come back to Liverpool on a regular basis, but harps on about how great the place is, especially if they do it with a crap fake accent because they've forgotten how scousers talk. They call it the Cilla Syndrome, I believe.

That is the case a lot of the time, and it's quite awful that Lennon was deified when he died. Lennon and McCartney were both brilliant musicians of an equal scale, but when Lennon died somehow he turned into this person who could do no wrong, whilst McCartney was made out to be this guy that wasn't as good as John, which is bizarre. Interesting to note, before John died Double Fantasy was only lukewarm in sales etc but afterwards it rocketed.

I like both Paul McCartney & John Lennon musically. There does seem to be some negativity surrounding Paul though.

Two of the UK's finest songwriters ever as far as I'm concerned.

People can have an irrational hatred of him, just as others can have an irrational love of him.
