Not allowed to use the fact they are on 'The Apprentice'?

I know it has probably been asked before but I take it they are not allowed to use the fact they are on the Apprentice to sell things?

For instance when they were selling the dresses they could have easily have said 'As sold on the Apprentice' as a selling point.

It is difficult enough to know if the cameras help or hinder the deals.

People use "as seen on the Dragons Den" when they were a flop! I guess anything which gets people googling for you is beneficial...

I have no idea whether, or why, the Apprentice would prohibit someone saying their product was on the show!

I'd imagine it wouldn't let LS see their full potential if they were able to use the backing of the show.

They're not technically allowed to, but apparently a few seasons ago, Simon took one guy aside, covered his microphone and told him that the painting he was trying to sell him would increase in value after it was shown on The Apprentice.

I remember about 2-3 series ago, when they went on the mobile run trying to sell food, one company's staff obviously knew they where on a task and held them over a barrel over it on the price.

It has been asked before, by me, earlier today.

It's listed as being in the rules that they, the candidates, cannot refer to either the Apprentice or Sugar. As the show gets up to 9 million viewers, the moment anyone sees Nick or Margaret (and increasingly Karren) they work it out themselves. Lohit from S3 does describe some of his experiences on TA. To film on another's premises requires permission and about 15 mins of paperwork. At some point which prog it is is going to get mentioned. That's not the case when filming people in public places although you have to take care not to identify them or show them in a bad light (as you are not a journalist). The camera crew would draw the attention, as they aren't tiny cameras, but a lot of people don't want to be filmed the way they are dressed, so might put more off.

If you follow this link, you'll find the link I provided to Adam Hosker's diary, where he described Simon selling one of the lips photographs in S3 by telling the customer that the photo would sell for a greater value on ebay after the show aired, since everyone would recognise it from TA, making the customer a profit. According to Adam, Simon broke the rules by using the filming of TA as a bargaining chip.

I'm pretty sure it's usually impossible for people not to know that the apprentice is being filmed though, due to the show's popularity and the fact Nick or Karren/Margaret are in the background. When they're not though, the rules pretty much apply. - and they can be broken.

I suspect Chris used Simon's technique to sell that recycled dress for over £300.

Most tasks involve teams split into two, so N, K/M can only be with one half. Those times the public wouldn't guess, companies would be told if they plan to arrange filming on their premises, meet their staff etc. But they couldn't be told before hand over the phone until they had already said 'yes, come over and pitch your product'. It would be different with those companies 'laid on'. I think the candidates are miked up in much the same way Gordon Brown wishes he hadn't been. It would be difficult to get away with slipping in an Apprentice reference. It may have been different in Simon's series. Ian from S4 made mention of that happening before they leave the house.

Karren was in the shop with Chris. So wouldn't have been the give away Nick is. The JA not having aired at time of filming. It could have been a quite genuine sale. Paloma on YF made mention that the guys spent ages selling. If anyone is over heard cheating there's a chance the sale could be voided? It's probably in the rules for the task.

They are using the name of the show...hence the big orders that were placed last week by B&Q and the kiddie company for the babygro. They only placed the orders because it was on a tv show. In real life, they have or havent placed orders. Even if they have placed orders its nowhere near the amount that were placed on the tv show.
